Does anyone use satelite radio? I installed XM over the weekend and I'm loving it! I got the Delphi SkyFi2 and it is sooooo cool. I don't know how I ever lived without it.

Radio sucks in North Carolina. Before XM I was listening to public radio and anything with a beat which includes country and christian music. I was tired of the top 40 junk.. Driving in this morning it was techno and alternative rock. Last night it was raggae man!

LBBV loves his XM radio. He's got it in his car and his office... he can't say enough good things about it.

Me, I listen to CD's. I still have no clue what stations are even in Atlanta. I listen to books on tape or Al Di Meola CD's. That's about it... :okthumb:

If I'm at home I listen to Launch.com when I want to listen to music. A couple bucks a month and you customize your station. A pretty darn good deal.

If I'm driving I'll listen to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Alan Colmes, a Milwaukee right wing radio Charlie Sykes, Clark Howard (HIGHLY reccommended), or sports radio.

A lot of people just love Sirius, but to be honest after seeing their program guide, I think XM is the far better solution

i am really into electronic music, and the amount of awesome live shows they have on XM is simply better than any radio station that has ever existed online or offline

same with a lot of their rock/punk/alternative shows, they simply rule!

Emril missed you last night. He said next time I see you you Im supposed to hit you on the head and say BAM!

He was all ready to climb up to the top of the room and get a bottle of the Louis XV cognac for a our meal too. I told him without Voo's credit card.... no dice!

One of these days Gonzo's going to learn to spell "Emerils".

XM seems to be the best programming for me. I won't add it to my present car, but I'm buying a new car at the end of the summer and it will have SOME sort of sat. radio and THANK GOODNESS, a Nav system ;)

Driving in traffic coming home today seemed so much quicker. I'm totally hooked.. If you have ever considered getting XM - go for it. I told my wife that my quality of life just improved.. haha

My guess is ultimately the two merge and the point becomes moot.

Sirius has the better programming for my tastes and they're also buying up tons of talent including Howard Stern.

The channel line up is very very similar in terms of variety. But the one key difference in the approach I think is that XM is kind of like listening to your IPOD, nothing but songs. Sirius doesn't have commercials but they do have voice overs for just a few seconds between songs periodically. To me it has more of a "radio" flavor.

On The 80's Channel for instance, Sirius has all of the surviving original MTV V-jays from the 80's. They bump in with little tidbits about the band, what was going on in the 80's where are they now and that type of thing. I like the occasional break between songs, some people do not.

With either one you'll wonder how you ever dealt with terrestrial radio.

I'm actually looking forward to my drive back and forth to work now.. I really am like a kid with a new toy. I pulled over about 2 miles from my house on the way home tonight just to flip through the stations for a couple of minutes. I'm just now figuring out the receiver I bought has 30 presents and not 10.. the moment I discovered that I pulled over to add more stations. I think I'll be amused for awhile.

Hellpuppy's been amused with his for months. Does XM have the gay stations? Those are his favorites!

The real question is:

Bishop, how many Mastiffs do you have these days? :yowsa:

depends on what it is...like you said, the 80's thing sounds really cool, I would enjoy little trivia facts here and there..but all in all, I listen to satellite radio for the non-stop music, if I wanted talk I would tune to the talk stations

here are some reasons I LOVE xm....

Two males - one at stud, one retired - both fawn.
Five Females - 2 fawn, 3 brindle
-----
7 Mastiff's total + 1 English Bulldog

I would say that in the next month or so the kennel will be finished. I'll take a picture of it and post it when its done. We are getting close.. the building is 3000 square feet.. it has taken awhile.

Not ALOT of talking on Sirius, just occasional bumpers. Depends on the show, but usually 4-5 songs in a row, 30 seconds of bumper, back to the music.

I really dont think you can go wrong with either provider.

I would honestly love to have both...kind of like the pc/mac debate, they are both good for some things :)

The decision gets made for most people based on what kinda car they buy.

If you buy a GM product, it's going to be XM.

Buy a Dailmer-Chrylser product and you get Sirius.

Not sure what some of the others are doing. I do know that Infiniti gives you your choice of either, I think that's a smart move.

I do think XM probably has better portable units at lest for now.

I have Sirius and love it. I hate radio. Sometimes I spend hours & days on the road. I only fly when I HAVE to. I like the way Sirius mixes it up.

BUT I was with my neice and she has the Ipod nano. I'm thinking about getting one of those and downloading all the playlist I have now. I'll still keep my Sirius tho.
