Some minor changes this morning..

The board was labeled "Oprano Adult Webmaster Forums".

It is has changed to "Oprano Adult Industry Forum".

The change is subtle. We all wear different hats and its not just about being a webmaster. We know there is more to this business than the web component.

The other minor change that took place this morning was the removal of the newbie forum. All the post that had been in that forum have been merged into the main forum. The regulars didn't read it. Nobody was moderating it.
Real newbies found an dead forum when they visit the site. It had to go..

I do want to talk about newbies for a second.. I think when the term was coined it was really valid. Newbie had two meanings in the beginning.. New to the internet, and new to the adult industry.

Almost nobody is new to the internet anymore. It has been around long enough that virtually everyone has had enough exposure to it that they are not newbies. They maybe novices but not newbies.

New to the adult industry is less, shall we say offensive to all of us. Its ok to be new to the adult industry. All of us that have been doing this for awhile tend to refer to newbies in a negative way. Answering questions about html would annoy any of us. Those answers can all be found with little effort without asking in a forum. Understanding the adult industry is more challenging. We don't get nearly as annoyed answering questions that are specific to the industry.

I would like to see more people participate. Notice we have some new people that have been getting involved over the last few weeks. Many of them are new to the adult industry. They may have been working for years do the same type of work we all do minus the naked people. I think their participation is good, it adds to the mix.

This board is not a newbie board. Oprano is a board for people in the adult entertainment industry. The visitors of Oprano come from every corner of the industry. The topics do not have to be adult topics they can simply be the topics we all choose to discuss. Many of the most memorable conversations I have ever had in adult forums have been on topics that had nothing to do with porn. We can all speak our mind and not be assulted for the business we are in. Novice or Pro we are all adults.

I noticed the lack of newbie forum this morning...I also had noticed the lack of participation there...I almost regretted putting my intro post there, since it seemed that you got more replies and got to know people more if you posted your "I'm new" post in the main forum...

I understand that many people here have been doing this a long time, and get perterbed when a newbie to the industry, like myself, asks a question that has been "answered a million times in a million different places, and I just need to do my own research..." but, I have been doing research to no avail. Some times when it's been discussed by others who have been in this business longer, people start to use acronyms or just assume that you have knowledge of "what's been done in the past," or "at another board."

I apologize in advance for asking "stupid questions", but reading old threads doesn't necessarily answer my question (as most of them run off topic after a few posts, or information has changed since then.) I have a lot of questions, and I've simply been trying to break things down to the lowest common denominator, not just for my own benefit, but for others who are new to the industry as well.

Anyway, that's the end of my rant/pre-emptive apology. :D Just hope that you all are still patient with me when I ask "stupid questions" in the main forum, instead of in the now non-existant newbie area. :)

You are going to love whats in store as well. The only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.

Does this mean I'm allowed to start threads in the main forum now? :clapping:

Sweeet!

Yeah - I'm at home. Wearing jammies and drinking gallons of coffee, as usual.

Getting some KILLER feedback from xPeeps members today. I'll use my new-found powers and post one of them in a shiny new thread :)

I personally like the noobs to the adult industry to mingle with everyone else. I think they get more information, meet more people and I think we are all better off with the additional interaction

Everyone is always a newbie at something

Everyone always has something to learn

I have never really treated anyone on here different because they were new, so I can't relate to the post at hand...but I welcome the change, mainly because I never even clicked on the newbie forum when it existed
