well, I am also looking into Flash videos, it seems like it probably is the wave of the future with google video using it and all

Too many users compalined at the time. Id be interested in hearing if that has changed.

here is how it was explained to me

The coolest part about the new wave of flash video is you can present a high quality video inside of a branded player that allows the member to have on his desktop all the movies he wants to download from your site.

He can play it full screen or whatever he wants. The video using Flash 8 (On2 V6) is higher quality and smaller than WM9.

But, even though he doesn't have to login or even visit the website through a browser, the flash player can authenticate him every month to make sure his card has rebilled.

I don't know about you but when I was a surfer If I had the option of watching and storing porn on my computer without having to login I would. It's a great way of covering your tracks.

This can also be done with On2's VP7 codec which is actually better quality than Flash 8 but an extra install is necessary, but I don't think it's as convenient as the new wave of flash.

Begin your movement towards Flash. If I get some time in the next couple of days, I will give my two cents; However, all new paysites we are building will use Flash from the inside out.

I can't wait for a more detailed response, I am really digging this whole flash thing

in all honesty, I don't see why flash hasn't been used more in the last year, it protects all your content so there is no need for that silly drm shit and that right there is a +++++ all in itself

I typically keep MPEGs around as a lowest common denominator that anyone can play. But they are usually the alternative choice. For the primary, I typically will chase whatever is currently hot, yielding the highest quality per megabyte. Always a balance of download time to quality. I've had good success with DivX lately, but have also cast an eye toward Flash.

The more I play with flash the more I am loving it

I am going to convert one for you all and let you see the quality I can get from a super lowe file size

I'm watching this thread and hope more details will be posted soon.

I have a bunch of Real files that are useless to me. My members hate having to download the player. I would love to know more about flash and its future.

get sorenson and convert those, sorenson will convert anything to anything

I am working on getting a nice flash example right now, it takes a lot of tweaking to get shit right when it is the first time...LOL

Oh shit I have a shitload of CD's I have to go through. Some I might not even bother with if I can find good new content.

But I'm going to hook back up with you once I do and see where you're at.
