you can't nuke a place and then invade it. you would have to wait 15yrs or so. besides, it would be too much glass to clean up.

Forced extensions are not a draft - they have been part of the standard enlistment contract/obligation for most military forces in what used to be called the free world for years upon years.

Unvoluntary [sic] recalls are not a draft either. ANY military obligation incurred, male or female, officer or enlisted, is for SIX years. A certain number of those years are to be served on active duty, with the rest in inactive reserve status.

Both of these facts are explained pretty clearly by the sales force (recruiters) to the buyers (raw meat, er, recruits). However, like any sales situation, a few organizations doing the sales do not operate completely above board. There are also a great number of buyers who develop retroactive selective hearing when the product (military service) doesn't live up to their expectations.

The minute somebody proposes MANDATORY national service of some sort for EVERY last cocksucker - male or female, black white brown yellow red orange purple, gay or straight or metro, born with a plastic spoon in their mouth or a silver spoon up their ass - I'd be all for it.

The requirements of today's military cannot be met by conscription.

Damn I agree with PD for once
(ok maybe it's not the first time)

but ..... if it was every last cocksucker drafted that would be women and gays and would leave a whole lot of unsucked cocks

and as long as I can find a loop hole for my son not to be drafted ;-)

(I know I am not Mike) Iran, and it'll be serious too because I think if they get a nuclear weapon, or close to it, that Israel will not hesitate to attacj Iran

Personally, I am more worried about the nitwits in North Korea than I am about Iran. The "X" factor in Asia is the possibility of Japan rearming

IMHO, the more serious long term challenge to the United States is China, followed by India and Russia.

Post your real name and pic.

PD - ditto on North Korea... but I'd put Russia directly behind China long-term.

I'm still one of those folks who are wondering why no one has ventured into NK to take care of that asshole with his concentration camps *before* he gets long-range nuclear capability perfected. Tromping in there after that fact will have dire consequences. He's already landed a dud in Alaska and is shooting to have major US cities in the crosshairs... Canadians should take note as well.

Great idea carrie, but since MikeAI is volunteeering to drive the first tank into the battle, you will have to settle for second place!

Since he's all about making sure the rights of non-white people aren't infringed in any way (cough), I thought we'd stick Jesse Jackson in the front tank.
Hatch open so he can stand in it and get his photo opportunities, of course.

What do you mean by "...[h]e's already landed a dud in Alaska"?

The reason "...no one has ventured into [North Korea] to take care of that asshole..." is the whole pesky problem of the tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dead South Koreans such an event would likely create. Seeing as how U.S. troops are in Korea to protect an ally, even the combined spin-doctors of Reagan/Bush I/Clinton/Bush II haven't figured away around that.

Jo - Carrie is not a Republican. Compared to Carrie, who is just a little to the right of Ghenghis Kahn and his brother Don, Orin Hatch is a bleeding-heart liberal. That is, of course, said with affection. :)

You don't remember? Back in 2003 he plopped one in Alaska and made all kinds of threats that they were very close to being able to hit major US cities like Honolulu, LA, and Chicago and even more south like Houston.

Lemme find some links...

Here's some:
http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/nation/200303/kt2003030417272311970.htm

http://www.americanfreepress.net/03_17_03/North_Korean_Missile_/north_korean_missile_.html

I remember at the time that Kim Jong Ill verified it and went into one of his schizophrenic rants about how he would soon be able to hit the major US cities, but now I can't find the damn quote. I even had it bookmarked back then, along with some info on submarines that the Chinese were building (with fuel cells and engines from Germany and France) that were going to start being delivered in '05 - can't find any of that now, either. (Kept an eye on that with me pops designing and building the towed sonar arrays the navy is using... they've had years to work on it and they're pretty sure they'll be able to hear these new silent Chinese subs using the fuel cells.)

There were quite a few different places with articles about it back then, then one paper (in Anchorage, I believe) put out a redirection article about how "it didn't hit alaska, it landed in the pacific, and it was years ago" and the whole thing went hush-hush. Typical cover-up BS to keep the people from panicking, even though KJI had verified it and was bragging about it, and said that Bush's attack on Iraq was a "sign" to him that we'd soon be attacking North Korea so he was stepping up their missile program.

There is a problem in my country
and the problem is transport,
it takes a long time to travel,
'cuz the Kazakhstan is big.

Throw the transport in a well,
so my country can get free...

So what you are saying is that the biasedliberalmedia who delight in making up lies about Bush in their effort to bring him down in disgrace are cooperating with him in hiding this story, right? Methinks this has probably been more widely covered in the media outlets you follow than in the ones I follow - how's that for being polite? :)

As far as China's subs go - I am a lot more worried about hull coverings from Putinstan than I am about French engines or German fuel cells; I am even more worried about the degredation of overall ASW capabilities.

Carrie, although many of us admire your solid, unwavering and sincere comittment to ignorance in everything you post, - It is with much regret to inform you that no missile ever "landed in Alaska" from N Korea. Even the article itself quotes someone as saying it landed "100's of miles" off the coast of Alaska and I should point out that US territorial waters only extend out to 200 miles and the waters of the State out to 24 miles. They did fire one over Japan to prove they had the range. The article contradicts itself with a title claiming "North Korean Missile Found In Alaska" which all referrences a Korea Times article that made this claim, which is allegedly referrencing US Intelligence documents and of course, offer no supporting evidence whatsoever. We understand that a snazzy headline is enough to make you bounce off the walls, but the rest of us tend to read the article, consider the evidence and the source before forming an opinion.

Suggesting that only you and a few less than credible websites know about this incident and declaring it a coverup, while entertaining, is not going to help you build a more credible case for impossible or unlikely occurances. Why not just move on to something more believable like alien autopsy's at Roswell and leave real world politics to people who are bold enough to remove their tin foil hats?

Actually, I respect people who do not agree with me. PD does not agree with me on much and I have a lot of respect for him. He is bright, educated and well spoken as are many here. I have no respect for your pompous ignorance. I speak my mind, just as you do. Usually I post just to start shit because I am bored. So anyway, why were you fired from Netpond again?
