Um.. He was indicted back in September. What he is pushing for now is for he charges to be dropped or a speedy trial both of which were denied to him this morning.

Sare, though what you say is most certainly true, my guess is that Joe is referring to Delay and his association with recently indicted and plead guilty lobbyist Jack Abramoff. I'll say this, though this is primarily a GOP scandal ANYONE, be they dem or pub, who is cuaght taking bribes should be indicted.

Well, although I have heard of ties between Abramoff and Delay, I have not read anything to indicate that there were more or less ties between those two and the rest of the Congress. Appears that everybody in Washington had Abramoff money in their pockets including the White House.

I think there are gonna be a whole lot of folks taking a beating in that deal.

Well, yes and no.

You see, the GOP has been putting out talking points trying to paint dems with this wide brush by saying Abramoff money includes all kmoney even remotely tied to Abramoff. For example, if a tribal government gave money to a dem senator that was considered Abramoff money even if that dem senator only dealt with the tribe and not Abramoff. The feds are looking at direct cash for favors transactions that involve Abramoff directly.
