Let's risk some honesty here.
Oprano has changed hands yet again, just when it was starting to develop it's own interesting personality with Nick at the helm. Is it still interesting? I'm not sure yet. Familiar names are back, familiar names seem instantly gone too. The tone has changed and I'm feeling that it's going to change a hell of a lot more too when the Internext hangover is finished. Especially with the addition of AEBN to the mix of already mixed up owners. ;)
I'm sure Wino is happy as well. Nick could tell him to shut the fuck up where I doubt the current owners would.
Might be time for me to adopt MikeAI's current signature?
Oprano the next GFY

This board was going into the crapper, Chris. I can call you chris, right? (no response on using real names...just a thud of silence when called on it?) There is a chance to rescue it at the moment. I think you entirely misread the sig.
This board will sink or swim on honest traffic this time. Or do you have a problem with that?

Not sure that "Just another GFY" is right. I doubt very seriously that the level of success of GFY can or will ever be duplicated.
I started posting on Oprano a long time ago because I found Serge, Mike, Colin, JR, and a host of others interesting and amusing. The previous ownership also ran a sometimes interesting venue that periodically came close to the orginal "flavor."
What will happen now is anybody's guess.
I am already enjoying the changes, I didn't really care for the previous owners that much...nothing to do with anything except the personalities really
so far so good though...not quite sure about this AEBN thing though, are they true owners now? like they have bought a piece of the pie? not sure about that, i kind of liked the fact that no major companies were behind it, just people I know here and there

This is the best what could have happened to Oprano,
real MONEY bag behind it with lots of $$$ to offer to Webmasters AND Sponsors.
The problem the original Oprano had -
we had nothing to offer. Yeah, sponsors thought I could get them traffic based on the past...little did they know how seriuosly I have taken my retirement. Still...it was going like energizer bunny just on perception alone.
Nick has no webmaster's proggy and couldn't offer anything to webma$ter.
AEBN with it's massive webmaster base, $$$ to pay and traffic to make deals with sponsors is a 10,000LB gorilla!
I am glad they jumped in on this opportunity which is good for everybody...except some cocksuckers who run webmaster boards and has nothing to offer to either webmasters or sponsors and cretins with no friends on the net.

I cant wait to see the changes. But the new owners are gonna need our help to. 'The Family' can be resurrected and should grow. We'll all be a part of that growth. I look forward to being a part of it.

ok i dont pay enough attention to this place on a daily basis to know who AEBN is. this is the only board i occasionally banter on, and thats because i like the people. have met a bunch of them. good pesonalities. intelligent discussion and funny discussion at times. i have zero to gain by posting here other than those things. so whats going on?

Jace, this is just common sence and personal experience.
Where would I be today if I haven't had sponsors with multimillion dollars pockets behind me? Most likely on GFY whoring my signature.
MONEY do talk and AEBN has shitload of money behind them. What all sucessful boards of today have in common?
MONEY and programs of the owners with big pockets.
Lensman had webmaster program AND deep pockets,
Netpond has webmaster program and deep pockets,
JBM has webmaster programs and deep pockets,
NOW Oprano has it too.
IMHO bringing new partner with webmaster proggy AND deep pockets is the WISEST thing Joe and Gonzo have done.
My kudos.

Hmmm. How to say this?
More than half of those posting at Oprano will still be in business in a year. That is really swimming against the usually followed current.

wow, ok. This sounds really interesting. AEBN is a solid company. I've done business with them for years since they first started. I think it's a smart move IF some of the people that are here now stay. Honestly this is the only board I even bother with. I don't really promote my sites because I'm doing other things but I enjoy adult so I continue to dabble.
So who is actually going to ADMIN the board? Is AEBN looking for moderators?

couldn't have said it better myself. people always are like "who would want to buy oprano" - oprano is a sleeper, it gets and maintains pretty decent traffic, even if not a lot of people are posting. a few webmaster mailings from AEBN, maybe even make oprano the official support board for "AEBN", throw some $$$ and promo behind it, this board can EASILY triple or quadruple in size, traffic, and posts. real solid move by joesho and gonzo. aebn is the 180th largest site in the world according to alexa, the # of adult companies with more webmasters and traffic than them can be counted on one hand.

There will be more information forthcoming as the details are worked out.

I guess the only changes so far has been hype.
One would think that if a big company like AEBN were taking over a large portion of Oprano, someone from over there would post something here about it. Or is it not a done deal yet?

1.) Rome was not built in a day.
When a new housing development is coming into town many things need to be done.
Roads,
sewers
infrastructure to facilitate good growth.
why do you asssume it is a large portion of Oprano they are taking?
and why do you think only a post about something gives it validation?
Time tells all tales, and we are in no hurry.
if we piss off 4 or 5 regulars, but gain 50 or 60 new ones, what is better?

Joe, don't read piss into something that contains no piss.

Sounded major enough, however not a single acknowledgement from AEBN to date.

No piss reading.
let me ask you this, if I said something and it was not done deal, do you think for one minute that it would not be refuted?
why must someone else come and give the acknowledgment you are asking for to authenticate a post that was already made?
do you doubt the validity of the post ?
sometimes the loudest statments are those left unsaid.
and we have never posted about changes that have not happened yet, we will post them as they do, so as far as hype, I think you are the one misreading something here .
did you not start this thread?
when we have announcments we will announce them .
until then why hype anything?
Evil Chris

Fair enough...
Maybe you just jumped the gun on the AEBN announcement. I don't doubt there's some kind of partnership brewing there.
Maybe the conditions just aren't right yet for them to actually come in here and acknowledge the deal. This is a business of BIG announcements and press releases when things happen. Hell, even the release of a few new hosted galleries make too many headlines for some programs out there. This however is pretty big deal don't you think? And still not a single word from your new partners.
