I worry that this could turn into a spam board. It happened with amateurmasters when camz took over. They have left it alone and it is turning into a great board again. If this goes the same route, its done like dinner. There is advertising and there is spam. Even spammers hate to be spammed. A board should be like a newspaper. It will have a political or economic leaning but if you push it too far, no one reads it anymore.

I read boards like I read any newspaper. Scan the comics, do the crossword and throw it away. :D

Actually I never called anything here. I have never pronounced Oprano dead. WTF are you talking about Joe? Did
Vegas cause an overload or something? Or is this just a drive by that you will drop with a resounding clunk?

Well, since I don't have any back hairs, they are not up. I have no idea where you read anything that you posted. It happens a lot when folks fire from the hip.

What would I like to see? Real, useful, business threads. No sneaky, back door spam. IE: the whole vod, then xpeeps, then finally the whole story. When someone always has an ulterior sales motive, his credibility goes up the spout. That was just one example. I am detecting other slow moving sneaky spam coming. But I will wait on that.
There is a lot more to this business than moving traffic around and pitching programmes. That can be profitable, but most who do it are in the low end of the game. Attention should be paid to those who actually run websites and produce content. A clearing house for good information and cross pollination between traffic guys and content producers. No content. No money. No Traffic. No content. It is a hand in glove relationship that no board has managed to successfully clock. Boards are populated by marketers pontificating and bragging about their wealth and possessions and have no interest in those who create the content that they need. Put the two in touch and you have a winner.
If both sides of the equation come together in one place, it would be unique. At least to the best of my knowledge. Your new partner, for instance, will be a content sponge. But there needs to be mutual respect and not disrespect.
IMHO, you do that, then you don't have to constantly tell people that this is the place where business is done. They will know that. You can yell it loud and proud, but if it ain't so. It ain't so.

Oh yeah, Joe. Old school? That no longer works. It is time to stop living in the past that kind of business just doesn't work. If you want an "oldies" station, keep on keeping on. You will have solid gold. No money, but it will be solid gold. It is so the time to map out new strategies and clean business models for the future. It will be good for everyone involved. The family thing? Hmmm. It was way too much like a freeking Amway pitch. And wtf did old school ever do for you guys anyway? Think about that. Time to move on and up.

No old school here, total newbie.
and I agree moving forward is the best course of action anyone could possibly do.

also no hidden traffic agenda here , all proof in the pudding .

so tell me then is your plan to be a helpful businessman as you claim to be so often.

or do you intend to start three or four piss threads a day as you ahve done everytime you been on Oprano? attacking most everyone but our dog skip. ?

I always believe actions speak louder than words.

I hear your words and I have seen your actions.

I don't really care what others do. I do post business threads and I do speak my mind. I also wind up pissing in six on one's often around here. That is hard to keep up with when many lies and half truths fly. I am not even thinking of defending my actions because I have no reason to. But when I see bullshit, I call it. You remember Mr. Allaby always calling bullshit? Now that was a joke. What others do is up to them. When I see useful business, I will post, acknowledge and contribute. When I see something that is not business, but I know something about I will do the same. If a bunch of wankers feel like swarming...oh well, back at it I guess. I don't suffer morons lightly. That alone should lead to some interesting comments
However, as we all know, no controversy, no page views, no board. There are a couple of people around here who I actually do respect despite our past, and where that goes, I have no idea. I am leaving for South America until march next week, so I am sure I will not be posting from remote brazilian beaches and if I do, I will surely be to mellow to piss. So there is hope yet....lol.

Hmmmm can someone please tell me why I should share anything that is revenue generating about any business?

and I understand that is not verbatim what rhetorical was stating but is that what business discussion means?

As far as connecting content with buyers for high end it may generate some revenue (magazine, movies, new content delivery systems and whathave you) but for most websites it's not that big a deal (hurts me to say as I spend a lot of time searching for content)

There may be a vision that unique content mass marketed will be more profitable but it's still just a portion of the equation. In fact (I think) quality traffic generation is more vital to the bottomline than content .........

......... you can have the greatest product in the world but if no one sees it who can buy it?

(hurts me to say as I spend a lot of time searching for content)
Why don't you just create your own content and stop wasting time?

"In fact (I think) quality traffic generation is more vital to the bottomline than content ........."
That is conventional wisdom on traffic boards but I disagree. I have no idea what your bottom line is, but I bet it is not any more than mine and I create content.
Nothing to do with chest beating, but just an observation. That is what discussion is about and that is how you can improve your gpm. Perhaps. Only a thought.

I did from 1997 through 2001 (very fortunate to be the second site Trisha Uptown appeared on and the first person Nicole Sheridan did adult for)

Truthfully while there was some interesting, unique and fair material we did, some of it wasn't that good. Added profit by selling the content after I used it exclusively for 6 months

Beyond that dealing with models (gives you an appreciation for professionalism), recruiting talent and the behinds the scenes work weren't appealing and more $ was to be made by working full time on internet projects

That's where I'm still convinced that traffic is a larger slice of the equation than content

and I'm pretty sure neither of us lives on just revenues from adult entertainment

I live exclusively from my adult entertainment income and have done since 1999. I quit my job in the documentary business because I was losing money every time I took a "real job". BTW, the day rate for a Director of Photography starts at $1000.00 a day plus expenses....so you do the math.(you can google that if you don't believe me) It was a hard, but teriffic decision. I market my own content and never sell it to others. I shoot tons of video as well as stills. So, I have got to say, the more you do for your business, the more you make. Dealing with girls is easy once you get the knack. Just treat them like professional talent and you get the results you need.
Fundamentally what I am saying, is get rid of the middle man.

I can see some of your point but ....
....... Not to get your dander up but I have to take (almost) everything you say about your business as theory because you don't show it.

If it's good I'd be proud of it (have seen some of your adult work)

It's real easy for either of us to sit here and say this and that

Obviously you've made a decent living (and been educated)
But it's still hypothetical ..........

You have to do what generates the most income (with the least time investment), for me that was internet work. There's more than one way to skin a cat ;-)

My dander is not up. But I don't need to show it. But I do know that most who post on these boards make less than $100K a year. If anyone thinks that is wrong, I am willing to listen.
I would not think of quitting my past job for that amount. Over to Serge and Mike to prattle on about real wealth.
I am happy in my situation. I work 8 months. I travel the world for four. I take pictures of pretty girls. I live in a great city. I walk in the mountains four times a week miles from the sounds of the city to clear my head. I make friends on oprano...just kidding vick.
I only post this, because there seems to be a misconception on this board about how you make real money in this business. Traffic is only one way, but not necessarily the best way. My little contribution to oprano.
Now, something I continually post but no one believes me. I don't lie.

edit:
I just moved across the continent to the west coast and this is where I live....

Pot gives this city character. Wineries are about a three hour drive.

But now more than ever before the product actually matters in adult , just like in mainstream.

Being in the majority has its advantages and virtues. However, being in the minority of the majority with a wealth of experience to draw upon is a much more comfortable and satisfying place to be. For everything else, there is mastercard. That must be an unsatisfying future to face. So many mountains never climbed. A gilded cage will always be a gilded cage. A knock off Rolex with 5 microns of gold plate is still a knock off even if it has a sweep hand.

Coherent thought? Serge, did you ever doubt that one????.....lmfaorof....
