Television evangelist Pat Robertson suggested Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, which Robertson opposed.

"He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America,'" Robertson told viewers of his long-running television show, "The 700 Club."

"God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,'" he said.

I am not sure which is more absurd, the media paying attention to Robertson or Opranauts paying attention to you.

This is just another attempt by mainstream media to tie Conservatives to wacko religious people. Predictable.

Well Mike, I knew you couldn't resist. And I was right. Conservatives are wacko. You guys are sinking like a sunset. The rats are deserting the ship and soon you will as well, when you see the light. It is only a matter of time. Hell, you are from NO and look what they did to your city. Man, sometimes you gotta know when to throw in the towel, turn a new leaf, and admit the error of your ways. You know there's something happening but you don't know what it is....do you mr. Jones?
Mike, so far the only thing you got to distinguish yourself in this world is money. BFD, that is not enough. You need to look to the future and your kids future.

You might want to think about your opinion the next time you try and tie Liberals to the likes of PETA

Mike - the reason that the media pays attention to Robertson is the same reason that the media pays attention to Howard Stern.

He gets the ears.

Millions of people around the United States tune this guy in. Millions of people around the United States take his opinions into consideration when they donate to political parties or go to vote.

The term "conservative" has no real meaning any more.

Whether you like to acknowlege it or not, the wacko religious people are an integral part of the Republican coalition.

You left out the word "unfortunately" at the end of this post. Carry on...

Not mainstream?

Mr. Robertson's daily program, "The 700 Club," is carried in most markets nationwide on ABC Family and the Trinity Broadcasting networks, and drew an average audience of 828,000 viewers in the last quarter of 2005, according to Nielsen Media Research. While he cannot compete with "American Idol," he had more viewers than CNBC or MSNBC in prime time.

As a host, Mr. Robertson regularly draws guests like Republican leaders Bill Frist, Rick Santorum, Tom DeLay and Sam Brownback. Last week, he bantered with Fred Barnes, a Fox commentator and executive editor of The Weekly Standard. The show is also a prime advertising vehicle for Christian books, music and other products.
