I agree! I was refering to the modern convention. A lot of our friends are pretty scarce the past few years. The old days, I looked forward to it.

Plus there are new venues for us to get together!

Happy New Year Old Fold!!

I'm feeling pretty good about the approach i'm taking this year.

Fly out for the tail end of the show (i get in tomorrow) and then hang out in vegas and just relax and have a little fun for a few days after the crowds are gone.

As small as the show floor has been, two afternoons of that is more than enough for me to do the business I need to do there. And the bar at night is almost always where the real business gets done.

Even before they made the stupid decision to put it up against CES, I was thinking about doing this last year after I noticed how little time I spent actually "at the show". I generally make one pass to see what and who is there and check out the things on my "shopping list". Then another pass the next day to actually either deal or shake a hand and grab a business card for something to follow up on when I get home.

I'm doing ALMOST what Hellpuppy's doing, just going at a later day. Coming in on Saturday, have plans for Saturday lunch, then a nap, Saturday dinner, then I figure I'll hit the circle bar for a few hours and see almost everyone, then enjoy champagne brunch Sun AM while everyone is standing in cab lines :)

The boards tend to be really boring during shows, until the ridiculously wee hours of the morning when they all come back to their hotel rooms drunk & post about their day... (at least that's the routine on a good portion of the boards that I visit)

Then at least a week of the love in...yawn. "I would like to thank..." blah, blah, blah. Its the same every year. Tons of people waxing on about their "projects", deals made, etc. and nothing changes. This ain't the film business folks. You don't have projects, you have blow job web sites and your business models are all the same...dirty pictures. But you watch, the post internext glow will happen and will be forgotten in a week and they will all be crying over their visa bills. It happens every year like clockwork. The plaintive cry for respect.
