How well do you think commercials for porn sites will do for companies that use them?

but seriously though, I feel it will work pretty damn well, as mainstream has been blantently using sex and mild porn in their ads for years.

the newest are getting down right XxX heres a few recent favs....

AXE Body spray:
"A man sprays axe from his hand, down his arm to his chest and to his crotch. Then later a women follows the path to his crotch"

Bailys Flavored Liquor:
The latest ad shows a man pouring the last bit of liqquid into his glass leaving one drop hanging, a sexy women reclined on a couch opens her mouth and sticks out her tounge to catch the last drop, wherein it is then snaged by a glas of a 2nd man.

and the list goes on, My stance, if they can do it to sell shit why the hell can't we?

they will draw as much traffic as criticism from those who simply dont want to see a hint of it. If they pull a great ad campaign there is the chance of them being a household name, but that would mean their marketing team would have to have their shit together

But what then is the difference to these stupid body spray commercials that pretty much say nah scratch that, that actualy show "If you spray this from your arm to your dick women will go down on you"

If mainstream media can use sex to sell products why cant sex use mainstream to sell products?

I look at it as a pandora's box (lol box) that has already been opened, we have phonesex , partyline & softcore porn video tv spots why not porn websites?

Theres not ONE DAY that goes by that I don't see a GGW 30 min infomercial on one of the 300+ channels I have on Direct-TV

You can't open the door and say "only you people can walk through" we ended that in the late 60's right?

I was approached by a company that will produce a video out of your already edited video a 30 second clip for $1,500.00 and then you get spots on espn, history, a and e , and spike for 10 bucks a spot from 12 - 6 a.m. NO nude but urls are Ok as long as they dont say fuck or pussy or something like that in them. ( clue here get good domain to redirect from ) hot girls , girls gone wild style or similar scantily clad dressed are excepted and OK.

for $2,500.00 they provide the models up to two and will do the same as above. if anyone is interested please let me know I can get you a contact for it .

now THATS a winning idea!, and not bad channels either, ESPN alone covers the male 18-35 demographic at pretty much any given time, as well as a small group of women 25-40 for Nascar and other shows.

To do cross-media promotions like using commercials to push a website you've gotta brand the ever living shit out of the url.

And it is exactly that, a branding exercise more than a traffic exercise.

but wouldn't that be the entire point of utilizing the telivision / cable / satalite market, for branding purpouses<sic> and if branded correctly, like the Xobile commerical does, it would in the end result in an influx of traffic.

Like on the Simpsons, in the epp where someone says "Email me at blahblahblah@blahblah.com, it was in fact a working email for the show, and according to the fox site they got over 30k of emails the night the show aired.

another example was in the Jay & silent Bob movie, Moviepoopshoot.com was used in the film and it was also a "real site" traffic soared during the films time in theators, also Lewis Black made a joke about that once, "The entire reason the fucking phone numbers in the movies are always 555-5555 is cause stupid fucking people go home and try to fucking call the guy they just saw in the movie"

Are they saying they can get a spot on the NATIONAL feed for those networks at $10 a pop, or is that on a specific cable network?

What's the minimum buy?

well there is no doubt that cross promotions drives traffic up - what is fearful to me is "who" is coming to the site? I would hate to think that the $$ spent would include underage junkies looking for any reason to get porn. Not too mention the attention drawn from DOJ and authorities who already refuse to acknowledge the adult industry as a viable business model. I can see the flaming now, not too mention the potential lawsuits of mommy walking in and seeing little billy's computer on with a porn website he just saw on national TV.

Local to Los angeles for the 10 bucks per spot. and on Time Warner
260,000 subs I think is the number .

once the commercial is produced and ready it is yours to keep as well.

I have investigated Portland Oregon adn for the smae time spots and channels it is only 5 dollars a spot.

as far as minimum in LA there is none your set up fee covers it ( they have a bulk arrangement with the cable company)

as far as doin it on you own in different local's Portland wants a 100 spot min.

and I am sure that each location will vary on acceptability of adult related content adn price per spot, and min amount needed

good questions, sorry i was not more clear on that at first .

Well the key here is it is following the letter of the law.
and so is the sites protections against minors veiwing it ( or it should be or it should expect to get busted )

The Law has provided certain rules we are to live within to protect against minors veiwing pornsites have they not ?

If we are afriad to tell out neighbors and our bankers what we do, and we are afraid to advertise and do what we are allowed to within the laws that have been set forth for us to do. How then can we ever hope for " mainstream" to take us seriously?

On the one hand we say we are not doing anything wrong so yu should accept us, and then when they give us limits we are ashamed to use the limits set forth?

Yoyu are rigth that if you want to cry foul and cencorship for putting some double anal fisting pising content on for that t obe the standard that the community sees as " normal" for our industry then they will most likely keep us in the closet or the ghettos so to speak.

If we put forth the face of clean adult entertainment ( like the nice strip clubs do that dont get fucked with, like the nice upscale adult books stores do that don't get fucked with , and like models lIke Jeanna do that are welcomed by " mainstream" then we wont get fucked with)

The kety here is to pic the battle and fight it smart , not come in and fight a batle that will not be won. It shocks me how so many do not understand this Progression of rights.

did they not read history, and know that Elvis was once told not to shake his pelvis? and now BET has rumpshakers backing that booty up faster than a frieght train in Japan!

Common sence is the key here .

Joe, is that deal limited to just adult? I have a few non-adult ideas I'd like to try it out on once I have the sites set-up. :)

There's a local commercial running here in Las Vegas for the Adult Entertainment Expo. I saw it a couple times last night. They are saying things like "come on down and meet your favorite adult film stars" and telling everyone "bring your camera".

Yeah I saw those too.

I am in Summerlin and we get a summerlin magazine here it has some print advertisment and coverage of the show as well.

including pics from the floor, the award show and some of Jenna.

it gives a good write up about the convention as well.
and as you know summerlin is a nice area and many many " mainstream " people live here including government oficials Star of screen and stage, music , atheletes, many corporate leaders etc.....

I will again say it is all in how the perception is presented.

if we try to make it look dirty it will be percieved as dirty.

if we try to make it look acceptable it will be acceptable.

Timbo lives out near that area. I'm way the fuck out in podunk Henderson near Lake Mead. I just picked up a membership to 24 Hour Fitness on Sahara, near Decatur.

Yeah, I hear Luke is out here and I know RickYNOT is too.

A couple of us Vegas-based webmasters used to get together for dinner but we haven't done anything like that in awhile. It's probably time to start again (after the show of course).
