I got a bunch of stuff.
A wonderful desk calendar and Tigger socks (which I absolutely love)
perfume and body lotions, a big tin of popcorn, candles, oil lamps, white chocolate hot coco with milk chocolate marshmallows, Chanukkah socks, (I love socks) some knick knacks and a few checks.

But the best present is what Defiant and I gave to ourselves:
WE GOT OUR OWN PLACE!! We'll be moving in around January 7th. I can't wait.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.

I got my new laptop :)

and an actual toy (haven't gotten a real toy in a long time) It is a miniaturized version of one of those crane machines you see at carnies and such. You know the ones where you put in the quarter and then you use the joysticks to move the crane around and try to pick up stuff.

Oh, and socks :okthumb:

The ability to sleep in, and an ENTIRE weekend alone with my husband. Was probably the most glorious two days I've had in years, and everything I could have asked for and more ;)

A DAB digital radio, one of those Scherna home grooming sets to keep my Derek Vinyard-esque haircut and goatee in check, some nice Gucci and Diesel aftershave and a Buck Rodgers heyboard for the PC from Ann, glows in the dark, and has an LCD display that tells you how busy the CPU is, how much RAM is being utilised, how many emails you have - sweet :)

This thread actually made me get up and go put my bracelet on. :)

One of my favorite gifts is a little something my sister sent. Book plates. I have *always* wanted book plates but somehow never got around to getting them. Now, I can reorganize my bookshelves and put book plates on all of my favorite books. :clapping:

I got an internal warmth that comes from helping others.
My kids were with their mother this Christmas (forgive me for being bitter about missing my youngest daughter's first real Christmas and calling my wife a cunt ;-)) so instead of wallowing in self-pity like I had planned to do, I went down to the Shadetree shelter and helped serve Christmas dinner to lot of hungry families. I've missed going there the last year or so, but one thing that was different this year was the number of volunteers. The last time I volunteered there, there were maybe 20-25 people, this year, there were closer to 50. Many brought gifts with them as well as much needed blankets, toiletries and warm clothing.

I hear talk all the time about how lazy these people can be, etc. but these are not the ones standing at the freeway onramps with signs. Some of these are single-mother families who were forced out either by spousal violence or losing the jobs they had. It's amazing how many of these single mothers want to work and have problems with getting work cards required at most casinos here (health cards, sheriff's cards, etc.).

The warm, smiling faces I saw there really made me realize that I was making a difference, even if it was a small one, to some people who were a little down on their luck and not the welfare warriors of legend. Seeing these children, who were the age of my children, being appreciative of these small tokens of help just really hit me.

So, while I intended to get all pissy about what a rough Holiday I was going to have, I realized I have it luckier than a lot of people out there and that just by doing something as simple as helping cook up a couple turkeys, I could make a world of difference to some families.

...and I also got socks, lots of socks...

Men are hard to buy for. I always get them socks too.

I have bought my dad socks every year since I was a little girl and can remember shopping. I think he would be dissapointed if he didnt get them.

Mom always said if I dont give him socks he's going to wear the same holy old socks forever.

I bought my friend Trevor speakers for his truck because the speakers in it went & now whenever he's doing his deliveries he gets bored real fast & I think he's going slightly cuckoo up top as a result if you know what I mean? lol

Tools are always generally a good bet too, or their favorite cologne I find is a big hit too.

OH! This Christmas at Trev's place, all the men were given lingerie (obviously the lingerie was for their wives, but giving it to the men was a HUGE hit)

We need socks. Us guys will buy 100 dollar shirts, expensive shoes etc. but we never really spring for some socks. they seem to dissapear or get stained from shoe soles or whathaveyou. that's where you ladies come in.
