At the end of the third quarter, we acquired an online distribution business to complement our current online business for consideration of $12.0 million, of which $8.0 million was paid at closing, with an additional $2.0 million payable on each of the first and second anniversaries of the closing. Pursuant to the asset purchase agreement, we are obligated to pay future contingent earnout payments, payable over a five-year period, based primarily on the financial performance of the acquired lines of business.

12 mils?

Good for Joe.
Everything is relative in this world,
in 1999 terms it's NOTHING,
in 2005 realities, it's a Jack Pot.

Ryan that 5 million (operating income) is quarterly. net income for the quarter was about 3 mil.

The totals for the 9 months up to sept 30th are 23 mil in operating income, with a net loss for the year of 5 million. Looks like they paid down something like 19 million in debts which is where the biggest expense was.

The company however, has assets totall well over 400 million

When I joined Condom back in early '98 there was this guy who had a link site and who also liked to take pics of naked women but not sell them, just use them on his own sites ... who woulda thought at the time ...

from "who woulda thought at the time ..."

Who could have thought that the guy I was pointing shortfalls about the pics scanned from Playboy on the site later becomes the owner of the most notorious site few years later?

His name is Brian Shuster.

Though, when you said "scanned Playboy pics" the first name that popped to mine was a guy named Kid Slick. ;)

Didn't even think about the fact their top executives (many of who own a large portion of the shares I assume) probably get paid millions a year in salary... Hef's daughter... Hef himself... etc

Dravyk, Ironically... I can't count on two hands the number of hugely successfull comapnies who started out with a 'purely free' web site in every way, shape, and form. The majority built up their customer base and sold off - although many eventually turned their site into a paid model after they had built up the user's dependance on the product :)

Maybe it's time for me to start a non-profit site :)

DRAMA ALERT: Xbiz- Get your story straight
Just got the new issue where it says Adult.com was bought for 12 Million Bucks. I would not have sold it for just for 12 Million.

You have no idea what the deal was, it is not disclosed. Even the disclosure stated that there was more to it.

I'm not at liberty to disclose the deal, but at least report what the public disclosures report, and not just part of it as the whole deal.
