40 cm before it's supposed to stop.
(that's well over a foot, for those of you on the Imperial system still)
It was fun driving to the daycare today. 4 x 4 just plows through the white stuff.

Aside from the horrific snow, downtown Montreal is lovely. :)
Was it my imagination or was one of those penguins holding up a sign that said "Nick! Help! Send pate!"

I love snow, probably because we don't get any here.Have to travel inland and up about 6000 ft to get it. So it's let go to the snow today, tomorrow we'll go to the beach.. water's a bit nippy to swim though.

I tried to explain to my kids what it was like hanging around the radio waiting for the "school closings" due to snow. California kids didn't get that one. I grew up in Connecticut and have had enough snow to last several lifetimes. I admit that it's beautiful and certainly something I wouldn't mind visiting occasionally, but I don't want to invite it over to my house any more.
About a decade ago, snowflakes fell here for about 10 seconds. I got an hysterical "happy call" from one of my neighbors - who had never even *seen* snow before. She was absolutely thrilled with her 10 seconds of snowflakes that never even hit the ground.
I can't wait for the annual holiday calls back East. ;)
Those bring out something very nasty in me.

That's what it's like here in Southern California. We can visit snow, or go to the beach, or go to the desert. :)

I don't mind snow. What the hell, let it snow.
If you live in Winnipeg and you mind snow they call you crazy and ask you why you haven't moved south yet.

Winnipeg is the coldest city in North America. I'm a winterized person, but that's just too cold for even me.

nice pics :) reminds me of growing up in alaska and shows why you always have to have a front door that opens to the inside... or one morning you might find yourself not being able to get out.

LOL Okay that made me laugh... lol
I think "crazy" qualifies as pretty much anywhere but in the general lower mainland BC. lol And even that's debatable.
Ugh!! That reminds me of winters in Jersey.
Morgan, I too can remember waiting for those school closings. Snow was only fun and worth bearing the cold for while I was a kid. Once I started driving, my detest of the white, hypothermia-causing blanket began.
I'm perfectly happy where I am. It's a balmy 75 degrees and sunny. This is the way I prefer my winters.

We went out for dinner and my driveway and our street was in a horrible state.
By the time we got home, everything was cleared away nicely.
I have to say that they are very efficient at snow removal in this province.

Red...I developed my hatred of snow as a child. Falling on ice and slashing the palms. Ripping out the knees of tights without ever making it to school. Walking down a sidewalk that had been shoveled...only to hit the four foot high wall of the neighbor who *didn't* shovel and having to back track to a driveway so that you could walk in the street. Taking a slushball in the ear by some kid who thought it was funny. Having your glasses be so cold that they damaged your nose.
When my husband first moved to Kentucky, the week he arrived they had the worst blizzard in one hundred years. Two lousy feet of snow fell and locked up the entire state for a week. They just didn't have the equipment to deal with it. I got picked up by a fellow employee so that I could stay in a room at the Holiday Inn and work double shifts. (The room was shared by something like six other employees.) Every fucking morning we had to tell a lobby full of people that no, the airport wasn't open today, either. The Canadians got downright nasty after a while. I mean, it was only two feet of snow. Normally, they were the politest people in the world and most welcome guests...but they did have their limits.
I'm still impressed that I married that man. He was coming from California, but he'd grown up in Pennsylvania. He also had a VW Beetle that merrily chugged its way home and back to work, damn the snow. I was pissed. :hmm:
