How Deep does your Search Engine Optimization go?

Do you just do it on your mainstream sites (if you have them) and ignore adult, or do you do it everywhere?

Do you know who Danny Sullivan is? Matt Couts? Follow SearchEngineWatch and read SEO boards?

Do you try making your sites SEF (search engine friendly URLs?) And tweek your metas?

Do you purchase hyphenated and nonhyphenated domains with keyword placement in mind?

Do you at minimum follow the major "Google Dance" shifts and adjust your sites accordingly?

Do you use backlink checkers, follow page rank or try to achieve link popularity?

You missed this one:

I read as much as I can be bothered to read and don't get too fanatical about it, I build SEF site on keyword rich domains. I only take incoming links from relevant sites and even then most of my outbound links are rel=nofollow so as to not diminish my sites importance.

how irelevant can a link to another porn site be ??

This wouldnt effect me, but why would links to to some other site blah blah diminish your sites importance ?

why would links to to some other site blah blah diminish your sites importance ? Google now holds web sites responsible for the places they link. This btw is a quote from the Chicago SEO convention from three weeks ago. And they will penalize if they find something they don't approve.

Hmm. 7 votes, 137 views ... Seems even the people who don't do SEO so much don't care they don't even bother to vote they don't care.

Now obviously SE traffic is more important in mainstream because they don't have the many of the traffic generators adult has. But, that said, when did adult decide it's not worth the bother? Or is it because we're a visual medium and SEs base value on text?

So how would you know what not to link to.
Do you know what criteria they use ?

You're in the porn biz, I'm not... well 99.6% not. :)

Edit: hmm there's something buggy about the board, if I hit enter when my mouse isn't over the reply box it submits my post, even if I'm not done typing.

But to answer the outgoing links question, from what I've read it's classed as a drain on the sites importance, most of my links carry rel=nofollow in an attempt to stop this. If it's true or not, who knows...

So how would you know what not to link to.
Do you know what criteria they use ? That is the buzz everywhere now ... what do they mean exactly ... Let me see if I can say this with a straight face and without ranting ....

They supposedly want "natural linking" where the site owner has no control over who links to them. And the want "one-way" links, no recips. They also don't want people to be in link exchanges nor do they want site owners to buy links. All are now considered false and evil ways of forcibly creating a greater link popularity. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/blink.gif

You see, they want, they say, a "natural Net" where people link to a site beause the site has such good content that is makes people want to give a one-way "natural" link to that site. That creates "true authority and true link pop".

All the other ways of getting links are considered by them to be "artificial". Not only purchased links, but recips are now frowned upon, because they are "trades" and therefore in the eyes of the SEs "artificial".

So it one links to a known spammer, or a "black hat" site, or a links exchange, they say there will be "repercussions" in ones rank and ones SERP as well.

Oh and "purchased links" does not include AdWords to them. That is advertising and going into their pocket so that is fine. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/whistling.gif
