Comedian Richard Pryor died Saturday of a heart attack, his wife told CNN. He was 65. Pryor had been ill with multiple sclerosis. Pryor became a legend of comedy by tapping his rage and agonies for laughs. He was the biggest name in standup comedy in the 1970s, winning Grammy awards for his comedy albums. He also appeared in nearly 40 films. Pryor had long been in fragile health. He suffered a massive heart attack and underwent triple bypass surgery in 1990.

He was an absolute comic genius. He will be so missed.

My favourite movie he starred in was "Moving", classic stuff !

"My nose bled once !"

"For 5 days !"

Very sad. :(

I hope to avoid the traditional end of the year "this year we said goodbye to" this year. Every year I'm aware of so many passings...and the end of the year feature always adds more. This year I'm aware of so many that I'm not at all anxious to discover the passings I've missed.

RIP, Mr. Pryor. May the day come when no one understands your humor anymore because racism has ceased to exist.

Oh wow, bummer. :(

Though hey, how many people can say they've managed to leave such a mark on society? Made us think as he made us laugh. He'll be well and long remembered. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/ok.gif

Oh, fuck. Sad to see him go, but from what I've heard his MS may have reached the point where this was a blessing in disguise.

No one person has ever made me laugh so hard, with the possible exception of Carlin.

Until yesterday, I didn't really understand the horrors he had endured. Rape at age 6, molestation, abadonment by his prostitute mother, etc.

It's a such an incredible testment to him, that he could go through those things, and still hold on to a sense of humor that was unmatched.

Gawd bless Richard Prior. As a kid I learned a few cusswords from him! RIP:wnw:
