Was cooking some spaghetti for lunch and lo and behold when I looked in the refrig after making it all there was no parmesan cheese. Makes for an annoying quick trip to the store and the even more annoying having to reheat the spaghetti which never seems to taste quite as good as having it right when it is done. :hmm:

Freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano ... ahhhh. Now that's a distraction! http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif

good trick for "recharging" spaghetti...use a little butter and fresh tomato juice and heat the spaghetti in a sauce pan and it will spark it back up
I've used this for day old spaghetti too...not quite as good as the fresh, but better than the crusty spaghetti you can sometimes end up with

I'm convinced the gods made microwave ovens for the sole purpose of heating up pasta perfectly! http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/wink.gif

I use both at times. If I'm making quick and easy, like I was today, I use the grated stuff in the can. If I am making meatballs and a homemade sauce, which I only do on occasion, I'll buy parmesan that can melt over the sauce.

That's why I always check all my ingredients before deciding on what I'm going to make. I've had that "run to the store" experience and I've learned. :)

Running to the store for a single item can get downright expensive, since the single item usually multiplies to a dozen by the time I hit the checkout.

Any of you fat bastard actually "run" to your car... or was that just an expression that means "Walk to the car, drive to the store".

;)
