After being in the adult business for 13 years and doing adult internet for almost 10, I'm going to be taking some time off on a possible permanent basis.

As most of you know, this has been a very bad year for me personally. With the some of the changes in the industry it made me realize that I wanted to back to school.

At this time, school fulltime and work fulltime (well, work overtime ;) ) just aren't compatible. That combined with some other very recent events has lead to this very difficult decision.

I have made a lot of true good friends in this business and I will continue to keep in touch and probably even pop into a show here and there. Right now I plan on at least attending Vegas for the last day or two.

I cannot express enough what great and incredible people Jason and Jordan are. They have my utmost respect and no longer working for them will be one of the biggest losses I'll suffer in this decision. I didn't know Jordan that well until I started working at WEG but he and Jason run an awesome company, are genuinely good people and will continue to provide great and innovative services through WEG (and obviously I don't need to kiss their asses at this point so you know this is from the heart ;) ). They were there when I needed them during this past year and I will forever be grateful for that. They are truly 2 of the "good folk" to work for.

I'll still hang around, but as far as day to day business, I'll be doing homework and studying for tests. YUCK!!

You all know how to reach me so don't be strangers!! :) :)

XXOOXX!!

That is big news. You'll be very missed!

I hope school is going well for you and hope that it continues to. Here's wishing you all the best in the future! You're a very special gal.

Pop on the boards once in a while Peachy, otherwise I'll miss you too much and have to come looking for you.

You don't want that. :yowsa:

You know, when I went back to school in '97 after my back injury I found it to be really fun, and not a chore at all.... not like it was back in high school at all. I'm betting you're going to find it similar, and you'll actually look forward to going. After working a *job* for 20 years I found the classroom environment very refreshing.

Best of luck like you wouldn't believe luv... a veritable avalanche of luck to you.

This is a hard hit for the industry, Peaches. You are going to be terribly missed. :(

I know decisions like this aren't easy. I wish you nothing but success in your continued education. :okthumb:

Enjoy the absolute hell out of going back to school!! I envy you for doing this. I have an itty, bitty dream of someday getting my degree. You've actually inspired me. It was less than an hour ago when I was mildly bemoaning the fact that I'd never get that degree to my husband, who is finally getting his. Maybe I'll jump start that itty bitty dream into a bigger dream.

Keep coming back and keeping us updated on how you're doing, please! :waving:

I'm studying medical coding - it's something that's in great demand also something that while I might not be able to start working at home, it's a good "work at home" job. However, after starting I remembered I didn't do very well in science in previous years so there's a big learning curve for me :(

And yes, a trip to AUS sounds perfect - I need to use my Delta points before they close down ;)

Lisa...unless I'm mistaken, as a student, she will be legally required to travel for Spring Break and commit acts of debauchery! I think you should *definitely* get her to Australia for said debauchery! :okthumb:

You often find that the subjects in which you didn't excell in "previous years" are now easier. I've always thought that college is totally wasted on the usual age people that attend.

You will be greatly missed Peaches.
I wish you all the best in going back to school. I did it in my mid 40's and then ended up teaching.

Medical coding will absolutely give you a work at home opportunity. Check with your local hospitals. When I was working at University Hospital in Louisville, the coders only had to come in twice a week. Most of the work was done at home.

And since I taught medical subjects, if the science gives you problems, I'll be more than happy to help you out.

Peaches, you will be sorely missed. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/sad.gif There's some people who could leave the industry and parades would ensue. For others, not a beat would be missed. You, sweetie (and I use that term so rarely) are going to leave a definite void. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/sad.gif

That said, glad you won't be a stranger. And very happy you're going to pursue your dream. I know you'll be succesful at anything you pursue. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif

Peaches,

I will miss you and I wish you well.
As Timon said, I left the biz but I'm
still 'around'. I made some great friends
as you did, which is why I couldn't leave
all together. I hope you will keep in touch
and let us know your progress.

If you need anything, holler!

BTW, can I have your points? ;)

Wow, Peaches...I'm very happy that you decided to pursue something for you..and I know you've had a tough year...

Knowing you all these years has been a highlight for me..I think you're one of the nicest people I've ever met....

I wish you the very best of the best, girl....but, selfishly, I say this. Don't be a stranger. You've always made me smile. :)

I wanted some time to think before posting in this thread. It took me as a shock, as I'm sure it did others.

Peaches, you have been a constant in my life for the past 6 years. You have been a source of humour, criticism, warmth, and professionlism through all of it.

We've seen people come and go, thought nothing of it. It's the nature of the business. Alot of them we don't even pay attention to their leaving.

I just wanted to let you know that I will miss you. My best to you and your future plans. :)

Good Luck on your studies Peaches :-)

I went back to uni when I was 30,
I loved it and found it easier because I was more focused than when I was younger.

Peaches, best of luck with the Medical Coding!

Like Anthony said, it shocked me also when I first read about you leaving the business. To me, it was like Hugh Hefner saying he was passing the helms, lol

Seriously, you have been in this business since I started my first free site in 1996 ... I left, came back... left, back back... yadda yadda yadda - As did MANY others. You have been a constant in this business for years, with good reason. I'm sad to see you go - you will be missed by many.

Damn Peaches.....there are so very few of us "mature gals left! There are always so many strangers at shows anymore - yours is one of the familiar faces I look for. I feel a strange sense of loss & we aren't even that close.

I sincerely wish you all the happiness in the world in your new endeavor. Remember, my door is always open & I would welcome 'Spring break in Florida:-0

Wow that's great! Good luck with that.

I love school. I was really good at being a "career student" (as my dad so nicely put it) before I went into porn.

I have a partial degree in science (pharmacology) and an almost business degree (accounting major).

Sharpie...that's one of the first things I thought, too. :(
I remember the first time I saw you, at the first convention I attended. One minute, it looked like a frat house had exploded...then you walked through...and I thought "oh, thank heavens, an actual 'adult' adult webmaster!" I think I actually slid over to stand closer to you and avoid being bumped into by...youngsters.
