Ok, our accountant has again told us we have too much money in the company, so I'm going to be "forced" to buy something on business funds. (Damn, I hate that! LOL!)

So, I need a new laptop. Want something nice and thin, easy to carry around. A big screen isn't important, it could be 11 inches instead of 14 or whatever. Want something that really is about the size and weight of a notebook, or copy book or something. (Don't you love the name "notebook" computer back when they all weighed 20lbs?)

Other main features: Long battery life and WiFi.

Suggestions? Either on what model and make and/or a good review site?

This one is nice and light and even you should be able to handle it:

Look at the Vaio, Drav.
They have some funky and cool smaller models out there.

As a Vaio owner I can say wholeheartedly that they are shit!

Toshiba have got some kick ass machines though:

Can't make a recommendation on the laptop, but might be able to offer some suggestions to deal with the business funds problem.

Try Averatec's models, they offer from 10" to 15" screens and some are around than 2 and a half pounds in weight. www.averatec.com

I use and love Alienware laptops, but suggested Averatec since the request involved liteweight.

Steer clear of Vaio's Dravyk as Trev correctly stated, The heatsinks are shit in them and only normally last until after the warranty ends, so it means getting the slags fixed time and time again. They suffer from "sleeping sickness" and just turn off, when they get hot as they are cheap bastards, and use inferioir parts to perpetuate the need for support..

I doubt very much as you will do a shitload of image processing, 3d rendering, video editing or audio editing. So that leaves you with a surfing machine and for that a little Dell or something similar will do ya.

If you just want to spend cash or need something tasty then its http://www.alienware.com or http://www.go-l.com :)

Yeah, something to surf and post with when on the road, basically. Also for a new project the ability to go into a business and "show them something on the web", ergo, the WiFi. :)

I took a look at the AlienWare, and while very slick and powerful, I have to agree with Grump, a bit heavier and a bit thicker than what I'm looking for.

I just got a new Alienware Sienta. I know I know you are thinking "this is a game machine" :)

This one I have is not a game machine. It's super fast, light weight and unique looking. I love it. Good luck on whatever you end up getting!
