Let me know if the 2005 stays up, because I've just had a chat with the lad that did the mod on my 2002a and he tells me icq is killing all the older versions by connection, I'd like to see if there is any truth in it :(

I sue 2002a as well. I almost never have problems with ICQ. This one is quite annoying though.

Would it stop you from using icq though... all those people with your icq number and you with no way to logon... I think not.

This is getting on my fucking nerves now, first I lose icq and now I've got no msn!

I tried that, didn't work on my icq but it has on Toni's. :(

I don't like the feel of ICQ 5, so I'm off to play with Trillian.

Yeah I kept getting those runtime errors too.. I upgraded to ICQ and it seems to have eliminated that.. I actually like 5, it allows you to send messages by just hitting enter like MSN, and I've always loved that feature of MSN, even though I dislike MSN as a whole.

Reference the post II made to Trev above on how to make it look like the old version.

Also, fire up IE and turn off the icq toolbar and popup blocker that they installed without asking.

After you turn it off you have to kill IE and start it back up to get the change in place permanent.

Also, seems that once the new version is installed the old version seems to work proper again

I have the retro version working, but what's bugging me is I cannot arrange the people in my contact list in alphabetical order.

I also tried to go back to 2003a after installing 5. Guess what happend. grr.

they actually installed the toolbar with your permission, it was the little checked box on the first screen of the installation.

Are your eyes going the same way as your hair? :p

No, they did it without my permission because I unchecked the little box but the toolbar ended up there anyway.

There is a little "G" icon. Just right click it and you can sort users by name or status.

Thank you, Chris. My list is now arranged alphabetically. I prefer that.
(I didn't know you could do both "sort by status" and then "sort by name" while still keeping online and offline separate.) :)
