Just sorta picking brains here ...

Do you do a structured "where the hell am I and where the hell am I going" kind of analysis of your business endeavors?

Do you do it on a scheduled basis (quarterly, annually, whenever the stars are appropriately aligned, when the discomfort from your hemmeroids reaches a certain level), or do you do it only when the balance sheet dictates?

Do you use a form/format/piece of software, or do you do it more informally?

Do you look at everything, or only those things/projects/relationships that are underperforming/failing to provide an appropriate ROI?

I do indeed, everything is in my head and I track everything. I know where every single stage is at and what is left to do at all times.

I keep track of everything in my head, and so far have not been disappointed :)

Every day I ask myself, what am I doing, where am I going, how did I get here.

Then I curl up intoa fetal ball position for an hour or so and cry.

Then everything is ok again.

And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack
And you may find yourself in another part of the world
And you may find yourself behind the wheel of a large automobile
And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful
Wife
And you may ask yourself-well...how did I get here?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
How do I work this?
And you may ask yourself
Where is that large automobile?
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful house!
And you may tell yourself
This is not my beautiful wife!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Water dissolving...and water removing
There is water at the bottom of the ocean
Carry the water at the bottom of the ocean
Remove the water at the bottom of the ocean!

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

And you may ask yourself
What is that beautiful house?
And you may ask yourself
Where does that highway go?
And you may ask yourself
Am I right? ...am I wrong?
And you may tell yourself
My god!...what have I done?

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/in the silent water
Under the rocks and stones/there is water underground.

Letting the days go by/let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by/water flowing underground
Into the blue again/after the money’s gone
Once in a lifetime/water flowing underground.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Hey Perfect Timing Porno Doggy :)

I have been through a few employers the last 6 months and things just didn't work out for a few reasons, one of them being I can be a pain in the rear as an 'employee' because I get thrown around project to project when I am nearing completion of one; leading to alot of unfinished products laying around. I like to see things start to finish, then move on... come back for mods later

However, if you give me a set project or let me know what you would like to accomplish one project at a time - I get it done quickly and beyond expectations. I also found I become bored of repetitive work, I need a job I enjoy and excel at... simple as that :)

I have decided to start an Internet Firm that will offer a wide array of services to my clients. I am eventually going to focus on non-adult but will be growing bottom up in the adult sector. Im looking at myself as a total newbie who has read alot of beginners book on every topic on the net :)

I started making posts today offering 'grunt work' and have a total of 3 small part time things I have picked up so far, and another one that is on hold from someone I worked with a while ago, as well as a couple in the pipelines I would really love to get involved in.

My idea would be to make a very healthy living off of multiple clients I help with a huge variety of projects. I think it is something I would be very good at, constantly learning new things is a plus, and I feel being as versatile as I am in a bunch of fields exploring each will give me an idea of what I really want to do with my life :)

Ryan...you have to find a place that both appreciates and requires your creativity before you commit a homicide. (That would be, in technical terms, "bad.") :) You and I spent *one* session bouncing ideas back and forth and I knew immediately that functioning among "the average" was going to be both difficult and painful for you.

pushpills...hang tight to that resolution and don't jump off the building. :)

sarettah...I, too, use that method of "life analysis." I still grieve for the degree in mathematics I never got the opportunity to get. (I never wanted to be a mathemetician, or do anything with the degree other than frame it, I just wanted it.) A dream destined to be unfulfilled, or at least put off until the AARP scholorship can pay for it...if there is such a thing. :(

Newton...I admire you and envy you for your ability to do that. I also want to give you a good pinch.

Morgan I have the entrepreneurial spirit but nothing has fallen inplace despite alot of hard work the last month and a half - I have to put those projects, all of the them.. on hold until I am bringing in stable income. So I am going to startup what I mentioned above.. BAsically if anyone needs ANYTHING done.. I'm on it - lol

Started this morning with the fun job of database manipulation that took about 3 hours for a few bucks... Got 4 or 5 of those jobs a day and I'm banking - only problem is it leaves next to no time for my own stuff, lol ..

My goal is to get my ass on the ball and use my entrepreneurial spirit as I should of 6 years ago when I started to see my old business fail. Even my fiancee knows I couldn't go to a 9-5 office job working for 'da man' - Just not my style. Thank god she has been so supportive during the tough times, I would of lost all confidence in myself a few times by now if it wasn't for her :)

Ryan...my "real life" jobs - with the exception of the two times when my husband was my boss - were very unsatisfying. I used to put it as "does not work and play well with others."

Oh dear..... ( beware..totally cunty post to follow)

umm...

So why is it that the old term "if you can't do , teach" is turning into "if you can't do , consult or manage"?

So , in what area or field shall I get you to consult to me?

If its grunt work I need , I'll give Ant or Serge a call and get forests number , bell him and have it outsourced.

If its top level stuff...I probably already have it in house.

Or I will have to pay all the money from a consultant with REAL PROVABLE credentials and frankly if he is that good , he doesn't need to consult , and if he isn't that good , I don't want him.

For example anyone that offers to consult to me on SE's I know is not that good or is a scammer.

Think of it logically. Why would a good SE expert want or need to consult? If he is that good he would already be making a mint directly.

Sorry to always be the contrary/cunty one on this board these days , (except Vick lol) but in all seriousness as the internet porn business becomes less and less profitable I watch people struggle to get there envisaged peice of the pie , whereas imho most could probably earn more in a real world job now.

Seriously......

I know for a fact that many many people in this business are $1000 away from being homeless ....

I speak to people that think one day they will be "playas" yet really don't know traffic (se , mail or directing), content , marketing or tech at fucking all

I speak to people that think being thought a big name poster on GFY will pay the bills (it doesn't really and is getting harder everyday to even make a living as a board whore)

Seriously , imho , this buisiness is becoming more and more filled with people who really don't get how this game is played and never ever will.

(Ryan you did once , you lucked in like I did and left.I honestly think I'm the only one who has been able to make a fortune in this game , piss it away , and rebuild. Most try a comeback and fail , miserably)

The ones that are left?

They have lucked into a good job with a company

They are here because through , illness , infirmaty or other "flaw" or misfortune this is there only alternative.

Or because there only other career choice is MickyD's and they can just earn more here and can at least sit in their underwear all day :)

Or because they are into the lifestyle....

(/end rant...for now)

;-)))

Nick I agree with EVERYTHING you said..

I won't hide behind the fact that I haven't been successful at any of the attempts I have made to get back into the business. Every single time I failed, it was because I couldn't get the traffic or I didn't have the money to develop the project as it needed to be.

When I was thriving and idiotically threw away a thriving business I STILL SUCKED at getting traffic, it was the stuff in the backend and talking others into sending me traffic that kept me sucessfull until I gave up because things got too hard (Yeah I was being a little baby bitch, if I could tell the 5 year ago ryan that I'd be good).

I still have alot of great ideas, and I think I could consult in alot of areas.. Time will tell. I don't proclaim I know everything - what I will say is I know a litle bit about everything, and a good amount about certain things.. But unfortunately the most important part of an internet business - generating traffic - I completely suck at... and Yes, I will always be honest about that even to potential clients in the future.

If I could find a job where I fit in the right way, and both me and the employer agreed... If it paid well enough with opportunities for advance in payment etc.. I would take it.

Chances and Odds are I will end up doing carpenty and sub contracting out in 6 years when I get my license earning 60-70K driving my own van and doing my own sub contract work.. Not the life I want, but very well could be what I end up doing...

Thanks Nick, I am yet to meet one person who told me "You can't do it!", but then again who would really say that? lol ... Not a soul, everyone will always say motivational things.

We'll see how it goes... Couple months should give me a good enough of an idea ;)
