That's actually very impressive, it's must have taken weeks to setup all those lights. :)

That is an amazing display, but I agree, I would hate to be his neighbor.

In the town I gre up in there was a house each year on the edge of town that had this insanely huge christmas light display. It was all over their incredibly huge yard and house. They would have cars coming by all the time and there was often a fair sized wait to drive by and look at it.

Animated lighting is a big market, most malls use some form of lighting controller:

We have several neighborhoods around here where we used to take the kids when they were little. These weren't "outdoing the neighbors" displays, either. They were those amazing "let's all get together and make Santa and his crew stretch across five rooftops" kind of neighborhoods. One used to have a fully dressed Santa complete with bag of goodies. He'd stand in the middle of the cul de sac and hand out candy canes to the people in every car that went through.

My husband, being my husband, used to day "damn, the light bill on this must be incredible" every frigging year.

Sweeet! Thanks for the link, buddy! :okthumb:

Damn that stuff is impressive. (Now to ponder whether or not I want to bother my neighbors ... Lord knows many of them do things that annoy me. LOL. Pay back time? Naw!)

After seeing the link Trev posted, I started looking into other ways.

Found software for sequencing the lights http://store.lightorama.com/software.html

a handfull of X10 controllers... I might be thinking too much about this. The wife might not be too happy with me this year

You'd just be doing your "spousal duty." Certain holidays find the spouses split: one wants to overdue, the other's job is to say "you're out of your frigging mind."

There was this Halloween once where it was my job to indicate that my beloved had taken leave of his senses. He had discovered "Halloween sound effect" CDs, you see...and...over did, to put it mildly. Of course, my children appreciated the "your Dad is SOOOO cool!!!"

In an example of the Christmas spirit that I know our local law enforcement officer will appreciate, a couple of cops I knew were late getting off work and to the bar one night because of paperwork over a fight between two neighbors that ened up with a couple of people beaten up, and one stabbed.

Neighbor A (upstairs) discovered that Neighbor B (downstairs) had put up a whole bunch of lights on the porch, the outside of the house, the shrubs on the lawn, and had a snowman, a Santa and Reindeer, and an elaborate Nativity scene.

Neighbor A discovered that Neighbor B had plugged all of the lights into an outlet on his side of the basement - so he was stealing the electricity. Neighbor A confronted Neighbor B, the confrontation turned ugly so he smacked him around a bit, and was then stabbed by Neighbor B's significant other.

While they brought Neighbor B back from the emergency room, the desk Sgt. told them they needed to call the local PD for one of the 'burbs.

Seems that Neighbor B and his significant other had stolen all of the lights and lawn decorations from a hoity toity suburb, capping off his mini-crime wave by stealing the elaborate Nativity scene from a Catholic Church.

Tis the season ...

I'm thinking of going all USA this year and decking the whole house out with lights, it's not really a big thing here in the UK so I know I'm going to piss off all my neighbours... if I can manage to piss Toni off at the same time then it's a bonus ;)
