Before going to Paris, we have decided to un lock our cell phones to use SIM cards overseas and stop paying $1.29-$4.99 per minute and..
Cingular is NOT very much interested in doing it and give a red tape so I started looking on the net and..
for $4.95 all problems are solved

Its a huge business .. a lot of people also like to get mobile phones with 'pay as you go' cards and unlocked. Its very handy if you travel a lot and just pick up a sim card with say $20 in the new country, replace your original with the new carrier and sorted.
I don't see two cans and some string listed.
Actually I always buy my phones unlocked since I usually don't care for the phones that is being pushed by whatever carrier I'm using.

Most contract carriers here in the UK send their customers a new phone every year - for free, of course they're locked to that carrier only.
For £20 I can have the phone unlocked and fitted with a new pay-as-you-go sim... then I've got a phone worth £200+ for sale ;)
Here in the US they want to give you a phone that takes pics, plays music, flips, pulls, swivels and breaks and all kinds of stuff that I don't need. All I really want is a very tiny phone with bluetooth that has a very good address book that will sync with my laptop.
I really like the OS on SonyEricsson phones. Currently using the SonyEricsson T610 which does exactly what I need, has bluetooth, syncs with my laptop and is small enough to fit in my pocket plus is just about indestructible. I did manage to break the screen on my last T610 after running over it with my car and after looking at a bunch of phones ended up buying the same phone again.
I think the worst OS is the one on Motorola phones.

JKust for fuck sake I have decided to unlock my second cell phone with Cingular...
after threatening:
switch to T-Mobil
legal actions to terminate my contract with them for non performance on their part
1 hour and 26 minutes calling back and forth
I got my unlock code.
I feel $4.95 is MUCH better value than Cingular's "free" solution.

hate waiting and going tru all their automated bullshit so called service lines.
Btw I will be in touch with you about my request :okthumb:
Yeah T-Mobile's phones are unlocked but their phone selection sucks so I end up buying unlocked phones anyway to use with their service.
