Why is it always the Brit papers that run stories like these... the lack of any real news I guess

Actually, if one were to toss in all of that stuff, ghosts, paranormal, wicca, UFO, tarot cards, ancient astronauts, Atlantis, crystals ... collectively, then it could actually be true.

Ahem.
Would the gentleman from Philadelphia please not include Wicca in such company ("that stuff") unless he also includes Methodists, Baptists, Catholics and any other religion that his fingers can type out?

Thank you. :)

When there's a large number of idio-, er, members, it's called a religion.

And don't look at me like that; I don't make the rules. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/tongue.gif

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

See? Now *that* was funny!!!! :bustingup

Generally, since people are for the most part ignorant and nasty, publicly announcing one is Wiccan is discouraged. (It's also dangerous.) However, when one gets tired of having one's life modified by the stupidity of others and decides not to play, it's called "coming out of the broom closet." One of the many reasons I converted was the desire to belong to a religion that could laugh at itself.

Points to Drav for the furniture remark. :okthumb:

Reighlynn...it's a hard row to hoe. You'll deal with idiots, but if you're old enough to have a driver's license, it's no doubt landed on you that the world is full of idiots, most of whom are ignorant and bigoted. However, occasionally you will meet a bright eyed human who will smile and say "you're Druid? How fascinating. What's that?" It will make everything worth while. The important thing is that you find your own personal theology and where it fits in the grand scheme of things. I worked a lifetime on what I believed, then more or less fell over the religion that said the same thing.

The absolute best thing about pagans is that we don't have books to wave around and shriek "our way is the ONLY way!" and thusly feel free to kill people who don't believe.

Actually... Uncle Buck's Big Blue Book (Raymond Buckland's Complete Book Of Witchcraft) would be one of the standard book to wave around and shriek about. And pagans do it just as much as other religions. Maybe not the killing part but the same self righteous my goddess is better than your god bullshit.

There's some of them in every religion.

:)

The more you know...
