We're getting another season of both Stargate shows! :bpurpdanc :lillpeppe :bdance: :cdance: :speedbana

This also makes Stargate SG-1 the longest running sci-fi show on tv here in the states! :okthumb:

'Stargates' Keep Running at Sci Fi
(Monday, October 24 01:59 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) The Sci Fi Channel plans to keep its successful Friday-night lineup humming for the foreseeable future, picking up both editions of "Stargate" for another season.
The cable network has picked up 20 new episodes of both "Stargate SG-1" and "Stargate Atlantis," with production set to begin on the two shows early next year. The new seasons will debut in the summer of 2006.

"SG-1" will enter its 10th season (the first five aired on Showtime) next summer, making it, Sci Fi says, the longest-running science-fiction drama in the history of American television. Previous record holder "The X-Files" lasted nine seasons on FOX; three "Star Trek" series -- "The Next Generation," "Deep Space Nine" and "Voyager" -- ran for seven seasons.

"Atlantis," meanwhile, will get its third season. Both it and its predecessor averaged better than 2 million viewers per week for their most recent run of new episodes over the summer, and along with "Battlestar Galactica," have made Sci Fi the top cable network on Fridays for the young-adult viewers that are the lifeblood of the business.
All three Friday shows are scheduled to continue their current seasons in January.

Just started? Wow.. that's odd cause last year you guys were ahead of us here in the states..... Once it starts does it go non-stop for you guys or do they have a couple month break like they do here in the states?

For years they where playing them end to end with only 3 or so months out. I guess Sky1 had to play catch up, I'm not sure.

It was looking like they were going to drop both shows and I was gutted, but from what I hear Sky1 will buy every season they ever make, which made a makem very happy ;)

I just have to wait a whole year for the next new season to start. I must add that O'Neil has only been in one show and Sam is still in Area 51, but it's been an outstanding start to the new season. ;)

Yeah.. I've enjoyed the first half of this season to be sure. I think you'll like the new villians they bring in.

I'm hoping so, but now shush before you need to start a thread I can't read lol ;)

I still can't get over the fact that we've had 3 programs just to kick off the new season... it made the character changes easier... but damn there's nothing worse than getting in to it, only to get the "TO BE CONTINUED". It's still quality watching though ;)

For the record, I've considered Stargate having long achieved that. X-Files was as much fantasy and horror and weird crap as it was SciFi ... I never considered it a straight-forward SF show. Stargate got it with season 8 beating out the Treks.

I'm sorry but I still love Star Trek.

Deep Space Nine is still the best show on TV ever IMHO. I love Stargate but it's not as memorable as Trek is. I can list the names and what happend, and usually what season, of Trek episodes off the top of my head. Strgate has never done episodes that equal the quality of such episodes as Duet, In The Pale Moonlight, Darmok, The Best of Both Worlds, Tuvix, and so many more. They have a ton of good episodes but not many GREAT episodes.

James Hacker (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0248844/): Sometimes I wonder if we need the weapons.
Sir Humphrey Appleby (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001329/): Minister! You're not a unilateralist?
James Hacker (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0248844/): Well... I sometimes wonder.
Sir Humphrey Appleby (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001329/): Then you must resign from the government!
James Hacker (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0248844/): Ah, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not *that* unilateralist! Anyway, the Americans will always protect us from the Russians.
Sir Humphrey Appleby (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001329/): Russians? Who's talking about the Russians?
James Hacker (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0248844/): Well, the independent deterrent.
