Wilma really kicked the shit out of s. fla
98% of dade and broward county without power. Both airports still closed
Trees powerlines street signs street lights down everywhere
Its a real mess down here.
I think ant is ok I believe serge said he talked to him I got a msg from serge but couldnt really understand it between his accent and the bad cell service
Im on a battery powered laptop and set up an aol dial up acct.
Roof on my apt building ripped 1/2 off Thank god its on the far side of the building from me. People on that end lost everything in their home. Friends who lived in Mobile homes have lost everything.
She came thru here with 130mph winds and thank god she came thru fast so the flooding and wind damage wasnt worse.
They are saying it could take 4 weeks to restore power to all of s. fla
Will keep you posted
Four weeks to restore power! Damn she really did kick the shit out of you guys. :(

Hopefully it's the last one of the year, still a few weeks to go.
I'm having a romantic relationship with the generator that I bought at the beginning of this storm season. Real glad that I got additional fuel before this storm hit. I'm good for at least eight days and with the weather so cool I don't need to run my one room A/C so maybe even longer.
I now have a trickle of water from the faucet. Hoping that water comes on enough to shower so that I can get started on yard cleanup since I'm not going to start on yard cleanup until I know that I can shower afterwards.

Glad you made it through OK. I think the East coasters got a really nasty surprise from Wilma!!!
All we had in Tampa was lots of rain and I saw one big oak tree down, down the street.

Stupid question from someone who doesn't live in a hurricane zone ...
Why is it with so much experience these utilities and services take so long?
Hell if it's frustrating just reading about it, I so hate to think how bad it is for you guys that have to go through this. :(

Yanno, I second that question. Every year brings "hurricane season." From someone way out here on the Left Coast, I'd like to know why history hasn't taught the "folks in charge" how to cope.
OK, I just made the question pretty stupid by mention the "folks in charge." I realize that.
I just don't get why the gas stations don't have generators so that they can pump gas. It isn't like they don't have plenty of fuel to run their generator. You would think that they would want to sell gas and make money.
The Galleria Mall by me has been open like nothing happened for all the hurricanes running on what must be some huge generators.
I can shop till I drop at the mall but I can't buy a fucking gallon of gas.
Got my whole yard cleaned up with the help of the two young boys that are staying with me. Tomorrow I'm talking them to the mall to buy then new sneakers for helping me.
I have enough fuel for four more days. I figure by that time many gas stations will be open or maybe I'll even have power by then.
