and the wind is starting.
We are now 1mph away from a cat 3. If you don't see me on ICQ, you'll know I've lost power. If I do, hopefully it wont be for too long.

It's not bad yet. We're very prepared. Got lots of food, bottled water, got the bathtubs filled, coolers filled with ice, radios, flashlights, wine, the hurricane shutters are down, we're set.

well.....the power outage might delay our return from NYC,
we have tickets on Oct 25th, might not happen

But my prediction (for what it's worth) is that this sucker is going to go south of you..... You'll get hit by a lot of it, but I think the main storm is gonna roll right in over the keys... Told Jen that this morning while we were trying to decide if we needed to make plans to be down in Ft. Myers after the storm in case the condo gets slammed. And so far, as I have watched the storm all day, it is holding true...

I hope you're right, but it's still changing so who knows. The eye is 55 miles wide and the eye wall is huge. I'm hoping it hits the Everglades. That will make our storm surge a lot less. And if you come down to Ft. Myers let me know. We'll have dinner. It's only about an hour or so from me. I'm about 5 miles inland from Marco Island.
