Everyone is raving about how it's going to be the next huge thing etc etc..
I mean... that's a lot of hype. I personally feel it's not going deliver on all the hype.

I kind of equate it to those old push button battery operated laughing or farting boxes. Remember those? They were fun for about an hour, and then it was like... ok turn the damn thing off already.

I just don't see the appeal of being able to take your porn on the bus, subway, restaurant, grandma's house, business meeting...

...when I jerk off, I want to do it in the privacy of my room and have it on a screen big enough where I can tell if it's an anal scene or a lesbian orgy...

...then again, that's just me.

Like you say, I think it will be a novelty for about an hour...

The key is being able to sell to the schmucks in that first hour. :)

It will be big but it will take time to reach the US shores as they are fairly behind what is going on in Europe. It truly is the first time Europe / Asia has a jump on the US in terms of technology. The US is catching slowly, but whilst porn will be very lucrative, it is just a very small part of the iceberg. Vod / wifi / cams / streaming the lot.

I'm not sure it's as big in Europe as everyone says it is.
What I know for sure that's big there is SMSing (text messaging). It has been very popular for about 5 years now. It's just caught on in the past couple of years here in North America.

Personally, I think the future holds promise for expanded text messaging capabilities, text notifications, and handheld web browsing.

Porn is as large as they say it is, I've got a mate that spends between £20 and £30 ($35 - $55 US) a week getting smut to his phone. He's not the only one out there.

Plus mms messaging is massive right now, I'm always getting pics from mates showing me their latest conquests. :yowsa:

These are (as Newton has said) still only the tip of a very large iceberg. :)

SMSing is a hoot. I used to be a texting operator for a company in the UK and when I would ask a client what he was doing I almost always got the response "driving". What the hell would posses a person to text and drive... and text sex at that!


I just don't get people sometimes.

there will be a handful of porn ccompanies who make huge money from it, but it won't be as open to the average webmaster

non-adult is much bigger...that stupid singing frog gets more downloads than even the hottest internet porn girl of the moment....there are also the government issues that will pop up (and be much harder to fight than the current Internet regulations)

Teenagers are the biggest users of these devices and as much as they love their porn, they love music, ringtones, gossip, etc. much more...
