What do you usually give away in your neighbourhood?

It's not as easy as when I was a kid, going trick or treating. Back then people actually made candy to give away. Now everything has to be sealed for your protection etc...

There are still some around my parts that give away home-made candy apples though. But we know these people so there are no suspicions.

I usually just get a big bowl of mini chocolate bars and chip bags.

That hard-as-hell-break-your-teeth PAL brand bubble gum. :)

No really we give away usually an assortment of mini-candy bars and shit like that. Dum Dum pops too cause I love the rootbeer and butterscotch ones. :yowsa

Same... but also take $1,$5 bills and one $20 bill, wrap them in papertowels and make little ghost figures and have the kids pick one.

Nice suprise for the kid who gets the $20 ;)

You should also include a little piece of paper in one of them that says, "You'll be dead by morning..."

That kid will be REAL surprised!!!

Just kidding, fucking with kids on Halloween is fucked up. It'd be kind of funny in a twisted sort of way though lol...

The last few years that I lived in a subdivision, we used to give away the standard candy, but we would only get maybe 50 kids. Now that I'm rural, we don't get any kids at all.

I do remember an elderly lady in my old town giving away nothing but dimes to kids who came to her door. (circa 1974)

I go to my sisters.

She has a house in a heritage area and they go mental over decorating the area and shit. Its an area about 8 blocks square.

They bus in kids it is kinda cool.

We give away the mini candy bars. Last year we had over 600 kids come to the door it is hectic lol

We give away the mini-candy bars and such, but I usually shovel handfuls into their bags. We're a little off the beaten path, so we don't get too many kids.

In college, we cooked up a batch of chocolate-covered Tater Tots and gave them away (look, we were broke, perhaps a touch stoned, it was what we had, and it seemed like a good idea at the time, okay?). I suspect you'd need a bail bondsman if you tried it today.

BTW - about half the kids loved them.

I still can't get my head round it though...

So....You get to go to places and demand they give you stuff or very bad things will happen??

North America is such a nice place.

Some friends of mine in England used to do that.(alledgedly)
They insisted bars only used certain space invader type games etc etc...The Police didn't see it as just a harmless celebration though , in fact they called it "extortion" "demanding money with menaces" and "racketeering"

I suppose they should have used the "trick or treat" defence and said they got the dates wrong or just wanted to celebrate more frequently.

;-))))

but Halloween is also a day when women can dress really slutty and call it a costume and no one thinks they are strippers or hookers ;-)

nothing like going to down the aisle at Party City and watching the college hotties buy skimpy costumes and say things like "so, how slutty does this make me look?"

But that leaves more candy for us so it's not that bad! :okthumb:

Ah...memories.... :)

I have to go back 17 years for the memories, though. :( We live on a private drive up a steep hill off of a very curving, dangerous street. We don't get Trick-or-Treaters. We always buy candy, though, just in case. I swear, the kid that finally makes it to my door after all these years is going to hit the "mini-candy bar motherlode." :)

As usual, though, the day will be very much celebrated at my house. :)

No need to worry this year mate, now that you've been rumbled as a wannabe Yorkshire Ripper they'll be too scared to come near your house.

(Just glad it wasn't you posting out the Oprano gear, I'd be shitting it now if you had my address :yowsa: )

I usually give out mini candy bars.

Halloween was always my favorite holiday as a kid. I grew up in upper middle class suburbia and we made out like bandits. I hate the fact that candy has to be x-rayed these days. We just had to make sure everything was wrapped.

When I was in college and had halloween parties and ran out of candy I was always sent out around the neighborhood to trick or treat so we'd have more to give out. Being so short, no one ever suspected how old I was. :)
