What a horrible year it is for hurricanes.
I hope it loses momentum.

Key West's Fantasy Fest which starts this weekend should be interesting.
Guess water proof paint will be in this year.

Generator fuel reserves are all full and house is full of food and stuff. Going to be watching this one very closely to see when I need to start putting up the storm shutters. Guess I should top off my car's gas tank today before the the lines start.

I'm so fucking tired of these storms.

When does hurricane "season" end? I'm thinking about getting a winter home there in the future.

Your home insurance rates must cost a fucking fortune!

It's gone from a cat 1 to a cat 5 in 24 hours and is now the most intense Atlantic storm ever recorded. It dropped to 882 milibars, Katrina was 902.
Even if it loses strength, it will still be a cat 3 when it hits Florida.

My Mom and Dad are in New England looking at trees, supposed to be going down to Sanabel for a month on Sunday, I left them a message and told them might not be good idea.

I'm east of Federal Hwy. which puts me in one of the most expensive rates in the high risk pool. I've got a good deduction for storm shutters and other hurricane related discounts. I'm paying 2k a year for Windstorm with replacement value up to 300k. This is on top of my Home owners. Oddly enough I'm in the X zone as far as floods go so I'm not even required to carry flood but at only 250 a year for it I'm planing on getting it anyway next year.

They are talking about doubling insurance rates next year. I'm not sure if I would even still carry windstorm if they do.

Also it seems our electric rates are going up 70% this winter due to increased fuel costs but I guess that is nation wide and at least we don't have to heat our home sin the winter, just open all the windows and enjoy.

I think it depends heavily on the westerlies. I think that it could bounce a touch more north than anticipated after scraping the Yucatan and miss Cuba. That said, it could make landfall at closer to a 4.

My family is in Tampa and has airline tickets for LA tomorrow. I may need to fly there and help them drive out.
