Where the hell did that come from. There have always been 12 zodiac signs and I've been a Sagittarius my whole life. Now there are 13 and I'm an Ophichus?

Another one we can thank superstition for. It's the old 13 is a bad luck number, so although there are 13 lunar cyacles in a year, we have only 12 months and while there were 13 signs in the zodiac, most folk only use 12.
If we could get on to the 13 standard the world would be a better, more peaceful, more balanced place. :yowsa:

I don't believe that...I am a Libra, and everything I read that symbolizes Libra is dead on me....If I read about Virgo's, it doesn't apply to me whatsoever
i think you have some made up stuff there that someone had fun seeing who would believe it....kind of like the Jehovah's Witness religion

Which will make you the same age as my oldest daughter, but her birthday was in March, so she is now and will always be older than you are.
I think I'm going to go lie down now....

Abbott: You're 40 years old, and you're in love with a little girl, say 10 years old. You're four times as old as that girl. You couldn't marry that girl, could you?
Costello: No.
Abbott: So you wait 5 years. Now the little girl is 15, and you're 45. You're only three times as old as that girl. So you wait 15 years more. Now the little girl is 30, and you're 60. You're only twice as old as that little girl.
Costello: She's catching up.
Abbott: Here's the question. How long do you have to wait before you and that little girl are the same age?
Costello: What kind of question is that? That's ridiculous. If I keep waiting for that girl, she'll pass me up. She'll wind up older than I am. Then she'll have to wait for me!

Yes, there are indeed 13 Zodiac Constellations, not 12! This is just one instance in which Astronomy and Astrology collide. There are many more:
http://www.clarkfoundation.org/astro-utah/vondel/MoonIn1999.html
Each of the other months of the year has one full moon, becoming earlier each month until the one in December is on the 22nd, also the date of the winter solstice. And every month has 12 new moons. Thus, in total, we have 12 new moons and 13 full moons during the year 1999.
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=month
month ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mnth)
n.
A unit of time corresponding approximately to one cycle of the moon's phases, or about 30 days or 4 weeks.
Going to a 13 month calendar would be so much easier. When you start the new moon, you start the new month. The year is 52 weeks, which breaks nicely into 4 quarters of 13 weeks each. Coincidence ? I think not ?
It is the age old conspiracy by western civilization against the number 13.

Colin, are you the same Colin from the old Ynot days? Seems from the lexicon it's certainly possible. :)
