For two pieces of plastic that slide against each other? (mind exits gutter)

Something like graphite? White lithium grease? Or will grease break down the plastic material?

Anything that contains silicon.

Edit: and graphite is like carborundum, it'll wear the plastic down over time. Silicon based is the best option. :)

This thread is no fun without pics. :(

Scratch that, probably wouldn't be fun with pics either. :)

Unless you're NickP, or an ex-mechanical engineer (with sparks), then I guess this thread wouldn't be too hot. ;)

If it rubs constantly, secure it .. then use silicon gel as trev suggested ..

For two pieces of plastic that slide against each other?

That all depends on what types of plastic materials you are talking about. Silicon can leach into various plastics causing degradation. Lithium won't adhere in most cases, and just squeeze out. Graphite based lubricants can create severe wear in certain plastics.

I may have forgot to mention that in my "Pre-Porn" life I was a Mechanical Engineer, working in Aerospace & Defence, who specialized in Plastics & Composite Material & Processes ;)

Let me know what you are trying to lubricate, and I can help you out :)

http://www.stuffyourown.com/escortdeluxe.html There it is. Not sure what type of plastic it is but there is one piece that slides when you actually load the cigarette tube and I'd like it to move as smooth as possible. As stupid as it sounds... :)

DannyCox

You wouldn't want to lubricate that at all. You'll just end up degrading what you have. It's mentioned that it is made out of ABS plastic, which is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. The Butadiene acts as a self-lubricant, and also gives some flexibility and good wear resistance (depending on percentage). There is a very good chance that the actual filler tube is made from Nylon (probably 6/6). You really don't need anything between the ABS and the Nylon, and if you do put something there, it will only create problems.

Plus, any lube you do use will just leach into the tobacco.

Don't even have to read the thread to answer this question...

KY... always the best choice when you need some extra slippy.....

:yowsa:

(or if needed you can substitute WD40 in all applications where you would usually use KY)
