Eudora 6.x.x has been giving me errors since I have started using it.
I used their patches etc.. and many people are still having irregular shutdowns and error messages.
I'm looking for suggestions on a new email client. Keeping in mind I have 6 pop accounts on the go at all times, can anyone recommend something robust that has good filters and possibly something that will import Eudora mbx and toc files?

Go back to 5.1. It's stable; it's what I use.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird and I'm so happy I can't stand it. You train it to recognize spam. It's wonderful. :)

Drav, that is probably what I'll do unless this Thunderbird is everything Morgan says it is. :g01:

Yes, but with Thunderbird you get cute little trash can icons that pop up on spam before it's zipped right out of your inbox! I like to watch that.
Yes, I'm odd. We've established that.

Morgan does it import from other email programs?
Got a link?

I'm using Eudora 6.2 and I'm having no problems at all. I have just over 20 different pop accounts, with almost 50 different filtered mailboxes, and it handles it well. I also have it really fine-tuned for SPAM, and it tags about 1 in 1000 valid e-mails as Spam.
Qualcomm has just released 6.3 to current users, but I'll wait a bit before upgrading.

Danny, this is the main problem I've been having with Eudora since upgrading to version 6.

This was supposed to be taken care of in 6.2.5 but apparently not.
Where do you see a version 6.3 offered?

And yes, it does import from other programs. :)

Thanks Morgan...
I have to be brave here. I've been a Eudora user since 1994.

I double checked. Eudora is listed from which to import. :)

I just had a look at that link, and I've never had that problem. It's probably "just one of those things".
I just received the announcement for 6.3 this morning. Qualcomm usually spreads the release out over the week for current users to reduce any server loads. You'll probably see it shortly.

A picture of a bottle of "Pagan Pink" should be in the encyclopedia alongside "Nectur of the Gods".

Eudora is the only mail program I've ever used. With the exception of opening Outlook to instantly decide I hated it.
I'm not having any of those problems, Chris. I'm using 6.2.1.2
I assume you've re-installed and all that. I've heard both positive and negative things about Thunderbird.

Still using Eudora 4.0 and never thought about upgrading it. Nice thing is that it runs without being installed onto each successive machine I have moved it to.

Well if Eudora's new version (to be released very soon) doesn't solve my problems, I am going to give Thunderbird an honest shot.
Change is good ja? :)
IE 6 on this - IE 7* on my other. Not a problem keeping it running and sweeet when you know (when your mind has the information) how to keep your shit tight!
* Still testing ;)

OK Dan I took the plunge and am trying it out. It's a beta version but so far it's giving me no problems at all. None of the previous errors I was having with 6.2. My fingers are crossed.
Of note, I downloaded and gave Thunderbird a try but decided against it for the time being.

I was hardcore Eudora with tons of different accounts and used it for over 10 years dating back to their very first version for Windows.
Got tired of the crashes and tried Thunderchicken, haven't looked back.

Chris, what OS are you running?
I've been using Eudora for years, no problems. My version is 6.2.3.4, I see they have a 6.2.5 up now, but I didn't see a 6.3 either.
Are you using the microsoft viewer?
I run several pop accounts and get about 200 emails a day, have tons of filters and folders without a problem.
Maybe you should compare your options settings with someone that isn't having a problem and see if that will help.
If you want a list of my current settings, let me know, I can mail them to you.

I'm running XP SP2 like most people. I did a lot of reading up on the errors I was getting. A lot of people getting the same errors, and apparently unexplainable. I tried many things to fix it. I just couldn't get myself to switch to Thunderbird what with several years of email on this machine.
But beta 7 seems to do the trick quite well.
