Call me a romantic, but I love that feeling of when you meet someone knew who gives you hope for the future.

It's been a long time since, it's great to feel it again.

Just thought I'd share.

Am I alone here on this feeling?

Funny. Actually, it's not even about that. Frankly, sex is the easiest thing to find. If you have a pulse you can find a lay.

The relationship is too new to make any concrete predictions, but I get a good feeling about it already.

I'm really picky with the women I date, not necesarily looks wise, but there are things that I appreciate that are not too common these days.

LOL, you guys are too much.

For the record, no there has been no sex.

Lots of long talks.

Love? That's way too early to determine, what I do know is that I see potential here, I haven't seen that in a long while.

*sigh* Somtimes I just want to shoot you guys.

Steve...that's absolutely wonderful and I'm very happy for you. I hope it all works out. If it does, get to like that feeling, because you'll be feeling it over and over again...for the same person. I know. I fell in love again recently...with the man I've been married to for 26 years. I have all new hopes for the future. (He's in love with me, too. He even talked about getting a dog someday. He used to make "that face" whenever I brought up another dog. This time he just said "could we wait until we buy a house first?" I said "of course, have to have a good yard for the dog.") :)

(The rest of you bleeding idiots can sod off!)

Steve, seriously, that's wonderful! Don't mind us guys acting like guys. Natural reaction, guy in an elevator tells other guy he's in love, other guy cuts the cheese.

The best way to describe it is that I know it's good for me when I can't wait to talk to her next. The relationship will have it's complications for sure, but there was an instant connection, one that I'm excited to explore.

Steve...I have two younger sisters. The youngest had received a marriage proposal. She hesitated. She asked the other sister "how do I know that it's right?" Middle sister said "can you imagine yourself talking to this guy over coffee every morning for the rest of your life?"

And that was the end of *that* engagement. Just the thought of daily conversation blew it right out of the water.

Luckily, the "morning coffee guy" showed up in her life and she married him. :)

Just stay out of the big "we are so good friends" trap/crap... men are from mars, and women are from venus, if you visit their planet too long, then you loose the attraction, which got you there in the first place.

Says Rolo, who is currently single - so do not listen to him ;-)))

I know the game. However, I've been the heartbreaker so many times around. Breaking up wit a girl when I said, "I don't feel it right now but I want to give it time" or "I don't feel this at all, it's best we just be friends".

I mean I've also had it said to me, it would be nice if this is the time when it's mutual.

Damn, so much speculation. I shall keep all informed, as if anyone really cares. :) LOL

Yenta, you don't hear that much outside of NYC. :)

It's funny I'm in the relationship business and I have always been observant of the ones around me. I've helped many a friend find someone good and I've always helped out. I've had my fair share of good relationships as well.

However, one thing that always seems to catch me is a fear of commitment.

I always think the next one will be cooler, smarter, prettier, more outgoing, more open minded, more focused, more energetic. In many ways i think it does get better, but If I've learned anything, you can make almost anything work.

MorganGrayson
10-05-2005, 04:31 PM
The one thing a relationship *does* need is committment. A committment helps you get through those patches when you look at the other person and think "oh, dear." That's normal, but unfortunately, it freaks a lot of people out. Therefore, they miss the next cycle, which is the "falling in love all over again" part. It's as exciting as the first time each and every time it happens.

And yes, you can make anything work. I've always believed you can pick two people totally at random, give them the "rules" and they could make a good relationship out of it.

Most people treat their houseplants with more consideration than they do the most important people in their lives. Good manners seem to fly out the window in a lot of relationships. I'm talking about the absolutely basic things like "please" and "thank you." Frankly, were I a man, there'd only be so many times I'd take somebody out to dinner without hearing a "thank you" before I'd stop taking that somebody out to dinner. And (I'm old here, folks, so my examples are a little...well, the kind you get from old folks) there's only so many times I'd clean the damned house without hearing "gee, everything looks so nice, you worked so hard" before I'd *stop* working that damned hard.

Steve, you found the one thing you absolutely *have* to have. Conversation. If you have that, you can work through anything. There won't be anybody you've ever met that will be better in bed than that woman. Why? You can *talk* to her. If rockets don't go off the first time...talk about it. And then, happily keep practicing until the rockets go off. :)
