How I Cybersexed My Way Into the Porn Business
By Morgan Grayson

I think I could describe it best by saying "I fell into it." I was never a surfer, even for non-adult things, much less porn. What I did love to do was "chat." I found an adult chat room, and discovered the fun of cyber-sex. I'm a writer, and I considered cybering a way of keeping my writing skills sharp. (It doesn't really matter *what* you're writing...as long as you're writing.) I had phone sex a couple of times just for fun.

I needed a job where I could work from home. I thought "phone sex." I didn't know what it paid or if I could do it on a regular basis, but I decided there was no harm in taking a shot. I sent an email to the original "Heather's Honeys" because the site was pretty and classy. I was hired...immediately. Heather hadn't even heard my voice yet. Later, I asked her why, and she said "intelligent women just don't apply for this job." Ah...I said. I worked for heather and discovered that yes, phone sex paid nicely, and yes, I could do it regularly.

She gave me a couple of her stories to read and, since she knew I was a writer, asked me if I could write porn. Thanks to becoming mildly famous in my adult chat room for cybering...I could. I wrote a bunch of stories. Heather marketed them for me, then helped me with my first site. She designed it for me. It was absolutely lovely. (It was even nominated for an "AVN" award.)

I joined the C.O.N.D.O.M. Project. I loved the concept of "webmasters helping other webmasters." At that time, all I had to bring to the table was rampant cheerfulness...which began my career as "webmaster cheerleader" for various webmaster boards.

I'm now on my latest "incarnation" on the adult 'net. I've been in and out, the last "out" lasting several years. This is the best "in" I've ever had. Nothing like knowledge, experience, knowing what to ask and when to listen to make money.

I'm still a "webmaster cheerleader," though. I always will be.

In reverse...thank you...and huh???? You thought I was a *man* "pretending" to be a woman?????

Could you elaborate on that please while my self-image as a woman curls up in the fetal position under the desk and keens softly?

when you used to post, I sometimes suspected you were a man posting as a woman...but then I met you in person and realized I was wrong..hehehe

Hey, as you know, I just thought you were a man.

Forget what you said one day on Condom to piss me off but I recall asking if you wanted to "virtually" step outside. That's when you relayed you were a woman! http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/wwww.gif

.... Ahh, es, the early days! http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/smile.gif

Um. Ah. Well, I'm certainly glad meeting me in person disabused you of that notion. Really. I am. Would of totally sucked if it hadn't....

One of my favorite - and oft told, so apologies to anyone who's heard this - convention stories is the time I was standing facing someone, chatting. Arms came around me from behind. The person to whom I was speaking (I apologize for not remembering who it was) had a total facial expression change. It was a mixture of shock, horror and "oh, my fucking everything, she's gonna kill this guy!" The facial expression changed again - more shock - when I leaned back and said "hi, Lance!" I explained to the shocked person that the list of people who had permission to put their hands on me was extremely short. Heading the list was "this long haired musician who talked to me about his kids." No business, just personal. A little reprieve from "the industry" was always welcome.

You even explained to me once that yes, it had five strings, and yes, it was a bass guitar. I had no idea there was a five stringed bass. Educational, that convention.

Dravyk...that was one of my favorite moments in the long years I've been in this business!! I don't remember what I said either, but wow...were you PISSED!! You offered to sock me in the nose.

Now, despite what the glossy magazines tell you about men, ladies, when a gentleman discovers he just cheerfully offered to strike a woman, even "virtually"...it makes him nearly swallow his tongue in horror. Dravyk, to his great credit and honor (hush, Nick, if you would be so kind) searched for my email and sent me an immediate apology. Up until that moment, I'd never seen an email actually vibrate with horror. I thought the whole thing was funny and managed to convince him of that. :)

Heather chose my nick because it sounded elegant. "Heather's Honeys" was a pretty classy site. When my career evolved into writing, I wrote both gay and straight stories, so having a name that can be either came in handy. When I started as a webmaster, it never occured to me that so many people would think I was a man. Some assumed, like Dravyk, it was just a statistical probablity. Others, and this truly offended me, assumed I was a man merely because I was intelligent, opinionated and not afraid to post on boards.

Tonda did you ever find out that answer to the question I asked you?
I am dying to dish the dirt.
