This has got to be the most retarded game on earth.... where else can you make money and still be pissed off?

I was in a $10+1 multitable last night and ended up 5th out of 70 or so.

This tourney was pretty standard, rebuys for the first hour (up to a thousand) add-on's at the first break, then elimination after that.

made it to the final table and got booted in a bad beat (four of a kind 10's against my full house queens over tens) can't believe I can win 210 bucks and still be pissed I didn't win 1st place of a thousand US.

oh well. Good night. First time i've made it to a final table in a multitable event. I usually play the 5 or 10 dollar sit'n go tourneys.

Course i'll be back again tonight to see if I can beat that.

I know , I have had my wife trying to calm me down , cause I won like 3500$ for like 6th but am still pissed off LOL

Non poker players do not realise that anything other than First will result in that.

BTW A friend of Oprano informed me last night that he is gonna hook Oprano up with some cool poker shit very soon:)

I've been playing against World Champs on pokerstars lately.Getting beat by them of course lol.But then watching them.

Its very educational.

Actually Hold'em is a very simple game to learn, but as Nick said, takes a long time to get even decent at. I'm just getting to the "Decent" stage after ton's of reading and practice. I lost a fair bit over the summer online, but It seems to be paying off in spades the last few weeks.
I'm quickly recovering lost money. In fact if my math is right I just need one more place in a tourney and i'll be positive for my whole online experience.... which is good.

now that I've discovered most online players are morons, and how NOT to play like them (and thus be a moron) it gets much easier to make money

I just haven't been able to enjoy online poker so hardly ever play it. I like the live games and reading people and looking for their tells. Trying to put them on ha hand. Seeing the look on their faces when they lose a big pot. Stuff like that. Online poker seems so sterile to me. I go to my loacl casino and play cash games and tourneys and have one home game I go to every wednesday and almost always clean up in.

So you had pocket ladies and the community cards had 3 tens... or worse, you had a queen and something else and the community card were 3 teens and a queen?

If there's three of a kind in the middle, you better have poket pair or have matched up one of your pocket cards for a full house or 4 of a kind... So assuming that, you have to look at how he played pre-flop to know what's he's holding...

I had pretty much the exact same beat a while ago... three '7' in the middle, I make full house, opponents has a '7' in the hole... He plays it right and I loose...

Likewise, online play isnt my thing... but getting home games here isnt easy... Im due for one actually...

I agree TE I do enjoy the home games. online and live games are two totally different strategies.

Online you have to play the cards, where live its generally easier to play people.
of course there are exceptions, once you play for a few hours against a person online you get an idea of what they're like, but even so... i find its better to play my cards than people online, and nearly the reverse live.

Hard to switch back and forth sometimes

Interesting I got killed on a similar same hand...

I had pkt kings.

Big raising before flop etc etc...flop comes 6/6/6...the guy bets , bets high too.

I'm thinking..""he can't have a 6 , no one would stay in for that pot preflop with a 6...whats the odds of him having bullets...astronmical...probably got 10s or jacks and thinks he is laughing"

Nope , 6/7 suited...

:(

Yeah.. I get bored way too easily playing online and my play suffers greatly.

Welcome to the pain Bhelliom! lol I think you have to have a certain kind of personality to be a poker player. Maybe the rest of you can identify with this. I think poker engages me because Im super competitive and it can stroke my ego and fulfill some self hatred all in the same game! The fact that you can win money is just the icing on the cake.

I havent played much chess, in fact KC stopped playing with me because Im such a sore loser, but it does bring out the same emotion in me. If I make a poor strategic decision Im FURIOUS at myself. I also get boiling mad at other players and tend to heckle them if they jack me.

In the past few weeks I have seen a lot of crazy players. Im wondering if online poker trends follow porn trends and kids going back to college also play poker. Someone told me he was playing a NL ring game and had AA, there was some raising/reraising before the other player was all in with TT. Of course a ten comes on the flop and the guy says "I put you on kings" Now what the fuck?? This is what fascinates me, are these suckout machines really that stupid? Uggg!

This is me.... as soon as I make a stupid move I start slamming the mouse about. That's only in untimed games though... I usually play 1 or 2 minute blitz games and have 5 or 6 openings memorized. When I get more time I'll learn some new ones. :D
