Wonder if Hustler , say, will still want or be allowed to advertise?

Additionally it seems GFY is becoming much more highly moderated.

I think everyone has continually had laughs at GFY's expense.

I think they may have the last laugh.

Ya know what?

And it goes against all I hold dear...

BUT

Adult.com etc being owned by a listed company means with auditing requirements etc etc it is gonna be very difficult to shave.

Think about it...

"Oh so whats does this mean?" says the Auditor
"Ahhh thats the % shave on this affiliates account"
"WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AT!!!!!!!"

LOL

There seems to be a lot more moderating going on, possibly a sign of clamping down. Corporates can reak havoc with smaller businesses, not necessarily intended, but it may just be the uncertainty as to what will happen to a place many call 'home'.

Not so sure ... there are a lot of auditors trained in the Enron accounting system who are looking for work.

I've always kinda wondered what could happen if a zealous prosecutor's forensic accountant ran across that kind of stuff in an investigation.

Playboy can open alot of doors and markets for adult.com, so I can understand why Lensman would want this to happen... not knowing the price for Lensmanīs little corner on the internet, then it makes it hard to say if it was a good deal or not for Playboy, but they did get access to one of the largest adult webmaster databases out there...

I doubt it will have an impact on business near term or long term...

I think it was a great move for both Lens and Playboy. Their synergies together make a lot of sense. Do I think its the start of consolidation - nope. I think it was one business move made by a company who missed the boat a while ago. Consolidation will never happen as people used to talk about how it would back in the day. Why? The costs of starting an internet business are very low.

Consolidation have happen in the most vitial areas of the adult internet for the last 5+ years - the "biggest" of the boys in this business already got us leashed ;-))

Its interesting I suppose, I really have no opinion on it though as I don't have an account with adult.com, and I don't really post a whole lot over at GFY.

I'm pretty much the same.

Though as Rolo said, it puts Playboy in front of a hell of a lot of people, even though most of them are fucktards...

From a business perspective this move is nothing but positive and enlightening. As the adult web matures and plays by the rules that other large businesses play by we're going to see an extra level of legitimacy given to adult entertainment.

Adult entertainment is a more legitimate business than many mainstream businesses and for the investor to have options to invest in adult entertainment shows a general acceptance of the adult web by intelligent Americans.

Kudos to Adult.com and Playboy on a smart deal.

Iīm not sure that the Playboy "brand/logo" will expand alot on the hardcore adult internet, since they are looking at making their brand even more "mainstream" with new shops, retail products etc.. So the "adult.com" brand will probably fit well into their organization, if their goal is to get more of the hardcore market...

Iīm sure Lensman (like any other community/board owner) is looking to turn the webmaster database into money... as we saw with .xxx tld deal, then he is ready to milk it for more, than just feeding/branding his affiliate programs. He already got Playboy tied into the adult.com affiliate programs, so except from more visible playboy marketing to the community, then I do not see anything revolutionary with the playboy brand exposure to the adult webmaster community...

Rolo, I agree I don't see much blending of the Playboy brand and anything else, but I do believe that Playboy realizes that without having to branch off into hardcore on their own that they can venture down that path by acquiring a company that knows what they are doing.

This is a common story and one that will become even more common. Lens wasn't looking for an exit strategy, I'd say that he's 99% of the success of the company, it behooves Playboy to keep him on and make him happy and bonus him on his success on a continual basis.

I don't see Playboy stopping here, I see this to become a much larger component of their growth strategy.

I dont have any data on their subscription business but I have to assume that perhaps it's taken a dip with the advent of the Internet?

My take on it is....

It's not surprising. I get the feeling that Lens has been working towards something like this for a long time now. The co-venture of "playboycash" between adult.com and playboy a few years ago tipped me off to that.

To my understanding it will be business as usual at GFY, same staff, same rules etc.

ALL adult.com holdings including realitycash, GFY etc, all of it now fall under playboy as a subsidiary, not just GFY.

If Lensman is happy and sees it as a positive move, then that's where it sits with me. I'll adapt to anything that needs adapting to like always, and wish him and his crew well.
