I didn't think much of the article. I'm pretty sure it's an old piece, written not long after the whole mess broke public.

Everybody in the world went nuts when this story broke. To me, the hysterical lefties with their panties in a knot were no worse that the hysterical righties who got their flag decals wrinkled.

Whether other people have been treated worse is irrelevant. What happens to inductees/recruits is even more irrelevant.

Prisioners were not (and are not) being treated by the legal standards adopted by the Congress of the United States (see Fox New's story from yesterday (+/-) about U.S. Navy aircraft contracts to shuttle prisoners to countries where torture is practiced).

Now, I can't think of a better spokesman for disregarding the rule of law than the should-be convict Ollie North, but he is as wrong on this one as he has been for most of his adult life.

The attempt to tie in the horrors experienced by those who suffered during the Japanese occupation of the Phillipines was clever, in a high-school advanced creative writing class way.

BTW ... just to make Mike sleep better tonight, I don't blame Bush for this.

Now, Rumsfeld - that's a different matter.

I always respect your opinion, BUT, THEY ARE TERRORISTS!!!
I believe they are being treated TO well for what they are and
what they stand for. Look at what they do to our people when
captured. They behead them only after the torture. I know this
has been debated to death so I won't carry on.

Voo ... I have no compassion for terrorists. I don't have any compassion for the terrorists our forces are facing in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I didn't have any compassion for the terrorists that Ollie used to fund.
