Going from a Celeron 1.8GHz to a Pentium 4 3.2GHz HT. Think I'll notice a difference?

You're laptops better than mine. :(
My pc is also crap, 2.9 GHz Intel P4, wank wank wank - not enough memory for it: 1024, I'll expand it and pass it to my good lady when I get my new one. :D

Yeah, but it's my every day computer :( I haven't turned my desktop on in months - I think it's a 1.8 AMD? It's about 3.5-4 years old.

We both need new "every day" machines then, even though the AMD at 1.8 is still a fast chip. ;)

Yes! :D
This replaces that miserable POS I had. I noticed a day or so ago I had seven browsers, NoteTab Lite, PhotoImpact and ICQ open all at the same time. The machine just zipped along, humming quietly to itself. The old machine would have crashed *long* before I got that many things open.
Happy, happy, happy. :)

You need to test it!
Open Photoshop, Flash MX, Windows Media, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo, Aim, WSFTP Pro and then give me a happy, happy, happy.
If you can do that then I NEED to talk with your hubby ;)

I don't have Flash MX, MSN, Yahoo or AIM...
But will having ICQ, Outlook, A browser to the board, Windows Media Player, An Explorer window, Coffee Cup FTP, my http server and my web server all up at the same time suffice ?

You can all take your Pentium 4/AMD/Xeon whatevers and shove them...

I'm thinking you're ahead on points, sarettah. :)
Trev...do to the number of friends and family I have spread out over various messenger programs, I tried Trillian for about an hour, too. Of course, this was on the old machine. It came with great smilies that my friend in Yahoo couldn't see and crashed three times during one conversation with her. Being that she has a right lively vocabulary and a short fuse, I thought it best to bag the Trillian and go back to just using each individual program when I have time to talk to people.
That's the other thing against Trillian. I don't want to sit here with my day shot full of holes because everybody I know wants to talk at once. I turned on AIM earlier to see how my two newbies were doing and immediately three screens lit up...one from a friend I hadn't spoken to in a long time, so he had to go to the top of the "attention" list. (Not Dom, of course. Two sort of pre-newbies.)

That's exactly my thinking, turn it on when needed. ICQ is always the way to catch me, I still may take some time to answer it though. ;)
But aim, msn, yahoo have had and still have their uses. :D

i don't quite get it? I have like 14 accounts in trillian, but I only run 3 on at the same time regularly, the others I sign into when I want people to see me from those accounts
every single thing in trillian is seperate, all accounts, buddies and connections....nothing is intermingled
I missed premiere :okthumb:
I also tried trillian for about an hour, then it was gone! I had to scrub myself after, as I felt I'd been shit on. Trillion is wank!
man, i love trillian...MUCH better than AOL owned icq and aolim....much cleaner interface with features that blow any other chat program away
my favorite is the chat history that is faded in the background of the new chat window, so you don't have to open up annything else, the chat history is right there
icq is one of the worst programs I have ever installed in my life, it looks like a 10th grade beginning coder decided to play with his daddies toys and make a neet-o application that sucks donkey balls
most people that don't like trillian, don't like it cause they tried it like 3 years ago when it was a shitty app, and never tried it again
the new versions just keep getting better and better

OK, Jace. You're right, of course. Correctly working the program would be what's needed. I live in fear of forgetting to change something, accidentally signing on and being spotted by one of the many that I'm ducking.

yeah, i have trillian set to not start any connections when I start the program, then I decide what screen names I wanna light up after it starts up
i just LOVE to fact that I have an icq, aol and msn login for each industry I work in, all on the same app

sorry trev but i have to disagree man. i had the athlon and i am telling you i sold the motherboard and proc. and bought me a hypethreading pentium 4.
