Holy shit Rita is huge!

I have the news on tv and this thing is a category five and is absolutely fucking huge. The radar shots are absolutelyu amzing. Hopefully it will lose some steam somehow before it hits landfall again.

Hope our friends in FL that were/are effected by the storm ar ok. And if you are along the part of the coast it's on a track for now be safe.

It will lose its steam, it will drop to a 3/4. Then it will fire back up to likely a "6." It will probably hit landfall as a 4. However, this one has a shot at hitting landfall as a 5.

The Gulf is highly conducive to canes. It isn't large, but it can produce them from scratch. Something to think about :(

Yeah... it's interesting to see how some stuff affects the hurricanes.. like with Katrina having a gust of warm air actually take some steam out of the storm before it hit the gulf.

The eye of this thing is incredible... in the satellite shots you can look straight down through it and see the blue of the ocean. It's huge.

They are saying a cat 4 when it slams the Texas Gulf Coast.

The traffic is bumper to bumper coming in to San Antonio, Austin, and

Dallas/Ft Worth, Texas.

There is no category 6, but it can be a bitch of a 5 :( If it hits as a 5 it will only be the 4th one to hit the US since they've been recording them. Scary shit.

Looking at infrared and recon this morning ... looks like an eyewall replacement cycle - where a new outer eye replaces the inner - has begun. Will probably weaken now with a possibility to restrengthen again later depending on the conditions.
