I can't watch the video until I install Real Player, and somehow, I don't think this item is going to induce me to take the time to do it.

I can find so many obvious flaws in this idea that it's not even worth listing them.

Let's dump this into the "Take a Very Serious Problem and Profit From It" file and forget it.

Oh, shit...one comment. Any rape crisis center will tell you that the "job" of a rape victim is to survive. That's it. Survive. Live through it. There are a lot of rapists who own television sets and have seen an episode or two of "CSI" and know all about those DNA tests, so they *do* wear condoms. They bring their own and make sure that they don't leave any evidence that will hang them. Should a victim manage to put her rapist into a nonremovable condom...the rapist is going to realize it immediately, most likely totally freak out...and kill her. Once word of this product spreads, even the women that would have managed to talk their rapists into a regular condom to prevent the spread of disease or pregnancy won't be able to do it. They'd probably get severely injured in the process.

OK, a lengthy comment. But this idea sucks.

It reminds me of a flawed project before it even starts ..

if you are violent enough to rape a woman I'm pretty sure if you got hooks in your cock while doing so you wouldn't be like "ouch wtf...cya later have a nice day" you would probably beat her half to death.

of course it would be completely missused, 1000 times more than a rape occurs with it. girl gets mad at boyfriend, gets arrested as rapist whe has to go to the doctor and have surgery and then has to get his name cleared, and sues everybody down the line.

a tampon style anti rape thing that is just a condom so you don't get aids, not a bad idea.

one with hooks so the women gets the fuck beat outa her and gets missused 1000 times to 1? pretty fuckin' dumb. shouldn't be allowed for sale.

but they wont be for very long when the maker of the rape condom is sued shitless within 6 months of it hitting the market.

I saw a pic of this device, it looks even more horrendous than the original anti-rape device that was thought of... and the fact that they are seriously considering putting the item itself on the market, horrifies me for all of the reasons stated above, it is just going to piss off an aggressor which is never a good thing.

Here's a link to the original idea, http://www.femdefence.info/index2.html That's the original 'rape protection' patent and I just read through it again it looks like they've changed off the original idea which was really really cool. The ORIGINAL idea, was not to actually produce the item, but simply market it widely as though it *were* available. The actual marketing of the item itself would work as a deterrant (a potential one) for would-be rapists... led to believe through marketing that such an item was there for women to protect themselves, they'd think twice about raping a woman who may or may not have one. (obviously they wouldn't know until it was 'too late' if the woman *did* have one, and would just rather not run the risk)

That was the original patent & seems to have been the foundation for all of these other ones being created...

Not that I want anything like this to happen, but, human nature ...

The next thing you know we'll be hearing news reports about rapists first using a foam rubber tube, which then takes out the device as it snags it, then them hurting the women more so for trying that in the first place, and then raping them as usual. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/sad.gif

For every lock, there's a key. For every safe, a way in. For every castle wall, a siege engine.

Remember The Club for cars? Took the criminals about eight years, but they finally figured out two quick saw cuts on the steering wheel defeated it.

Like all "violent crime deterrents," from the anti-rape thing to the death penalty, these are made under the grand illusion that criminals stand around thinking and weighing the pros and cons before they commit a crime.

Years ago, colleges found a great way to cut down assaults on women. Across the nation, campuses instituted programs where guys simply walked women back to their dorms, back to their cars, wherever they needed to go after dark. Women in the company of a male don't get assaulted with nearly the frequency of women alone. I like to think that it gave nice people the chance to meet, too, but I'm a romantic.

The difficult thing has always been protecting yourself from the few without taking it out on the many.

If this is the same one I read about a few weeks ago, the lady who made it is from South Africa. Down there they NEED something like this. A woman there is raped something like every 30 seconds and at least a third of all their female population has been raped. Most of the rapists get away.
This would allow the rapist to be caught and prosecuted. Yes, it *might* induce additional anger, but I really think he'd be too busy worrying about the pain his weiner was in and how to get the damn thing off to keep the woman pinned long enough to beat her. In the time it takes him to jump (slide, whatever) back and see what's causing him so much pain, she can be up and gone.

I sent the link (from a few weeks ago) to a friend of mine who's South African and lived there most of her life. She saw many of her friends, including her sister, become victims of rape. Having lived there and knowing how it is, she thinks it's a wonderful idea/product and can't wait to see it offered.

Push - you *truly* think that this is going to be misused 1000 times to 1? Pretty low opinion of women you've got...
And if a rapist should try to sue the company, I really can't see the suit going through. I have to have faith that most judges would cock an eyebrow, say something like "It caused you pain and suffering, eh? Costs of removal? Gee, should've thought of that before you decided to rape a woman. Case dismissed."
(Although with the judges we're getting these days...)

Yes, in South Africa I can see it kinda being usefull, just that something that is invented in south africa can make its way to being marketed here, and thats more what my comments were on, including the 1000 to one theory, and yes, I know 999 women who would use it for revenge!

Also, the lawsuits I was talking about were the male victims who didn't rape the girl.

I think this speaks more to the sort of people in your circle of acquaintences than it does to women in general
