As a personal note, it took forever to knock that idea out of my husband's head. He, too, read the manual and assumed that *all* women like a certain type of jewelry. I don't happen to be "one of those women." My birthstone is actually the diamond and all my life I've felt like I got ripped off. Such pretty colors out there. What did I get? Clear. It sucks. My favorite stone is the blue topaz, making me - jewelry wise - a cheap date. :) I wear silver and absolutely adore marcasite. Once the man got it through his head, to his absolute gratitude and delight, I get a lot of jewelry on gift giving occasions and he doesn't have to take out a loan to do it. :)
