Interesting video clip showing the Guard rounding the dogs up and giving them food and water, holding them until the SPCA can come get them. Then a police officer in the back of a truck with a bunch of his buddies hunting down the dogs and shooting them.

I don't have either the heart or stomach to watch that, Carrie, but thanks for making it known. People refused shelter and rescue because they didn't want to leave their pets. During the fires here two years ago, my family was totally ready to bug out...but knew we'd only go as far as the parking lot of the shelter because they weren't taking pets. My husband, my daughter and I would be in the VW bus with 7 cats. Two teenage fire victims burned to death (not smoke inhalation, they got caught by the fire in the car) trying to save their horses.

Non-pet owners will never understand. Lots of people will say "they're just animals." They'll also make valid points about the now-wild dogs carrying diseases. The pet owners will just look down at their own pets and feel nothing but pain over this.

The difference is that the Guard members are basically just people in uniform. The think and act the way the majority of humans would. The cops have been through too much and trained to think and act a certain way. I'm not defending their actions by any means...I'm just trying to work it out in my head to find some sort of peace.
