I have a movie for you.
Devils on the door step by Jiang Wen

Shot in 2000 in mainland China, the movie is banned in China and the attempts were made by Chinese government to remove it from the Cannes festival. Jiang Wen is now banned from directing movies and only was acting in one since the ban.
I say no more. The movie is VERY powerful and makes you think and appreciate it on many levels.

I've heard about the movie, but never had a chance to see it...adding it to my netflix list.

A movie I've recently enjoyed and highly recomend is The Motorcycle Diaries.

Sounds really interesting....

Reminds me of what my father said when he returned from a vacation in China. They were touring Tiananmen Square and my Dad asked about the protest in 1989...I forget what his question was, but the tour guide answered very abruptly and said 'We don't talk about that.", and that was the end of that.

I LOVE subtitled movies. Hell, many movies and TV shows I put CC on when I can't figure out what they're saying ;)

I just love movies...I've always felt if the movie was good enough, you don't even notice you're reading subtitles...I absolutely hate dubbed movies though (unless it's a good old fashioned chopsocky movie)

Watched it this weekend - excellent! Thanks Serge :)

Also watched Crash - love it. Tried to watch Layer Cake but I'm either too dense to follow it or my mind was wandering over other shit. Tried for a little over an hour and then gave up.

Watched Crash last night, awesome movie!

Layer Cake is another excellent movie, but unless you've spent 4 years with a partner who's a gypsy, you'll miss alot of the slang and meaning of words and phrases used in that movie.

I think layer cake needed better editing and certain other changes.

A decent movie though

I didn't enjoy layer cake, I tried to but I thought it sucked. Crash on the other hand was decent. :)
