So, why not allow more legal immigration into the States ?

a recent poll conducted in Mexico found that 50% of Mexicans would move to the USA if they could and 1 in 4 would do so illegally if they could. and that is just Mexico. 1 country.

Are you going to happily let your entire city become a ghetto as you allow millions more people into the country than the system can absorb? or did you think that a bunch of people previously living on 5$ a day are going to show up with 2.5 million each to buy a nice house and car and invest a little and brighten up the neighborhood?

i actually just got home a few hours ago from a trip down to San Diego and Los Angeles. i found myself thinking quite a bit while trying to learn spanish to use a bathroom at Texaco, that if they deported all illegals, we would probably be paying 20.00 for a carrot or head of lettuce and that farms would just collapse.

the sensible solution i would guess would to create a better system of giving work permits/visas to those who are coming across and working anyway... legal or not and then police those who have visas and shoot arrest/deport those who don't.

Try living in an area where illegals refuse to learn English, but their numbers are increasing to the point where the locals who live here are being forced to learn Spanish just to get a job and see how you like it. Well, I don't know how it is in Cali, but I know when I see them here it's usually a group of 5 or so men that bust their asses daily doing whatever job they can get. On the other hand, we have blacks(this might sound racist, sue me) that have jobs that they either don't show up for, or if they do show up for them they have an attitude about it and most of the time they are playing with one another instead of doing the damn job they're being paid for. This doesn't apply to all blacks, just the worthless ghetto trash that I mentioned earlier. Even white trash trailer park folk go to work and make a living, what the hell is the problem with the blacks?


And I know all about people having to learn spanish to get a job. My mother moved out to Vegas a while back and couldn't get a nursing job because her spanish is rusty from not speaking it on a regular basis since my grandfathers passing, he was Puerto Rican in case you're wondering.. :)

All of the illegals I've ever met work like dogs. My husband used to be a restaurant manager for Holiday Inn and his Spanish is pretty much limited to anything that's said in a kitchen. He always had the highest respect for his kitchen staff.

In a way, that's part of the problem. The influx of illegals is causing hospitals to go broke and close in droves. It's causing more problems than you can possibly count, and the Border Patrol - despite having very snazzy uniforms - has no real power to do anything. (You can walk up to a Border Patrol agent in downtown San Diego and say "Hi, I'm an illegal" and all he can say is "excuse me, but we call you 'undocumented immigrants' now" because he has no arrest powers away from the border.) It's made a mess of California. But then...how do you not have respect for a guy who'll strap himself to a car engine just so he can work a minimum wage job, live in a hovel and send the money back to his family?

To say the problem is complex doesn't begin to cover it. I don't have any faith in the people who are supposed to be coming up with some kind of solution, either.

I fail to see how liking slave labor is liberal BS...but the spending on porn part I like...regardless, who other than illegals are you gonna get to work in the fields for less than/minimum wage?
