I had to help my mother out in her store today. It's been a while since I've sold retail, but I haven't lost my touch, a woman came in for one $25 bottle of perfume and I ended up selling her about $200 worth of fragrances and gifts.
I'm so good sometimes. :)

Thanks guys.
No, I didn't get commission, its my mother for God sake. :)
It was nice to help her out, but now I just have to hope she doesn't want me to do it on a regular basis. I can work with her, or live with her. I can't do both.

That reminds me of the old boy that could hardly talk that always wanted to be a salesman, so he went to Walmart and applied for a sales job.

The store manager looked over the app and called the man in for a follow up interview... but after only a few questions he told the guy that he couldn't hire him because of his speech. The guy told the manager that he would work one day for free and if he wasn't the highest employee in sales he would just give up his dream of being a salesman and Walmart wouldn't owe him a thing.

These terms were agreeable so the man took his place on the floor.

It wasn't long before the manager saw the salesman leading a man from the pharmacy dept to sporting goods where the sales man found some hooks and helped the customer pick out a pack and then ask the man what kind of line he was going to use and lead him over to where he helped him pick out line, then a new rod and real, then a life jacket, a boat paddle, then a brand new boat and motor and several other objects like insect spray, coolers, rain gear...

The Manager was amazed as he watched the salesman ring up the customer and the total was $6798.56.

The Manager waited until the customer left the store and went up to the salesman and told him he had to be the world’s greatest salesman. "I mean that man came in for fish hooks and you ended up fixing him up with everything a man need for a fishing trip."

The Salesman looks at the manager and says, "He didn't come in for fishing hooks."

"Well what did he come in for?" asked the manager.

"Hell", said the salesman, "He came in asking me where the sanitary pads are located." I showed him and then reminded him that since he wasn't going to be able to do anything with his wife for the next week, He may as well go fishing!
