We had some routing and bandwidth issues with Crazy Club Chicks.

Can I get some of you to give me comments on speed please?

Thanks!

About 17 secs on a full T1 for me in Atlanta.

websiteoptimization.com says it should take about 3.5secs on a T1

Not good news from here. High-end business DSL, close to T1. Slow load, nearly 30 seconds for entire page to draw. http://oprano.com/msgboard/images/smilies/sad.gif

Like Vick said, it must take a few minutes on dialup. (And yes, most surfers still have dialup.)

OK...I now have a technical question that may or may not be even answerable.

Why are there so many different responses? When I clicked that link the site loaded so fast I thought any problems had been repaired. (I scrolled all the way down and all the graphics had loaded in that same half-blink.)

I have Cox Cable and the only good thing you can say about these people is that a lot of fun can be had with the name. (My very first cable installation was done by Technick via phone and a sixteen-year-old hacker pal of my daughter's.) I surely didn't imagine *I'd* be the one to say "loaded in half a blink." I figured it would be somebody working with much more powerful equipment.

Two simple enough answers.

1. you already loaded the site in the past. So it's already "on your computer". Since its loading from what's called 'cache' it will be hella faster.

2. Think of the internet as a road system. More than one road lead to Anthony's servers and some are longer, have lower speed limits and are simply more congested... hence the different results.

add to that the fact that your ISP may be overselling your bandwidth. as in 2 people or 4 or 10 on the same line. yeah yeah adsl you have a dedicated line but thats from the core router to your house but incoming to the core router maybe oversold.

but in this case there are several issues we are fixing. however the site is graphic intensive :)

I think 17 seconds for a site full of graphics like that is a damn good speed, and it's taking 24 hops to get there. I think that's excellent :okthumb:

I've never been there before, so it wasn't in my cache...so it's door number 2! :)

Thank you for the simple, coherent answer, DrGuile. :)

From now on, DrG is in charge of answering technical questions for me! :okthumb:

Hi Ant,

I'm on a 6 mbps connection so everything is fast including this board.

I have view new posts bookmarked. Not sure why you have a screen that reads "Your search is in progress and you will be taken to the results in a moment. Thank you for your patience." I get sick of waiting and always hit the Proceed button. I have View New Posts bookmarked for GG&J and it takes me right to the new posts.

Cleo, it is an additional screen for the sponsors advertising, and a button is there as standard if you wish to bypass this screen.

It's tolerable now on Comcrap from Atlanta. I still watch the thumbs fills in though instead of the whole page slamming in at once like I"m used to seeing however.

Could just be the sheer number of images on that page.
