Passengers said a man, described as South Asian, ran onto a train at Stockwell station in south London. Witnesses said police chased him, he tripped, and police then shot him.
"They pushed him onto the floor and unloaded five shots into him. He's dead," witness Mark Whitby told the British Broadcasting Corp.

Have to agree, it is much better than the US way.....
You know start a war with a totally unrelated third party using faulty intel (at best) invented intel (at worst) then justify it using a whole list of reasons, none of which pertain to why we are there in the first place.
We let our terrorists get away with it so we can pursue the interests of the oil companies.
Approaching 4 years and I ask again, where's Bin Ladden
But then again it is really hard to find a guy that needs to be hooked up to a dialosys machine every day or so

You do not think that Osama Bin Laden biggest wetdream is that entire US military will use all their resources to try and catch him? He would secure his place as the next Prophet in the muslim world, if he was able to control how the US foreign policy should be.
First do the character killing on him, and then do the real killing, so he does not end up as a martyr. Let him blow up the civilians in Iraq for a few more years, and his rating in the muslim world be so low, that we can kill him without creating millions of new islamists...

today is turning into a very interesting day in London. First I woke up to hear about this on the news..now they are doing somethng at Harrow Road and we just had a press conference about a man hunt for yesterday's bombers.

I have to agree. That's the way to handle it!
Terrorists aren't used to it being dealt back the way it came. Disappearing into the bowels of Quantico never to be seen again just isn't much of a deterrant apparently. Executing them like dogs in public should be more of one. :)
Bravo! We've been needing a Dirty Harry kind of attitude for a while now. Thought that would happen in the US first. A bit surprised but delighted it's happened in England first.

Nope - But I also do not think that wasting resourses in Iraq is doing a thing to fight terrorism.
And for the record I think the US Military should defend the US - NOTHING more

I agree with this, Jeff.
Afganistan was to fight terroists. Iraq was to clean up after Daddy Bush; nothing more, nothing less.
It would be nice if the US went back to the job of fighting the real war.

I have no idea of the actual circumstances under which this guy was shot. Maybe the cops were convinced that he was about to blow a bomb.
What I do know is that the cops have created an instant martyr for the cause.
There is a certain emotional appeal to the "Dirty Harry"/kill em all and let Allah sort 'em out school of "thought" [sic] - but it (like enabling terrorist expansion into Iraq) will do more harm than good.
And for the record I think the US Military should defend the US - NOTHING more

I agree, plus here in the UK the police have to jump through a load of hoops before they can even fire a shot, so the fool got what he deserved!

Yeah this is very sad.... but one should not act suspicious, then run when the police tell you to stop. He spoke english well, so he should have had no problems comprehending.

The sad fact is that over 78% of UK police carry firearms now and every officer is trained to use them.
Certain websites are claiming that it wasn't actually the standard police that shot him though :hmm:

10 years ago we had Armed Responce Units, now the ARU is kind of our SWAT.
It'll not be long before all officers are packing heat :(
