Wonder if those rumors from a month or two ago were actually true about the venue being in Orleans :)
Ive never been to Orleans yet so itd be cool if it was :)

They havent been made 'public' yet ;)
A search on some of the SE's reveal results for various sites though stating dates from around the 5th Jan onwards.
Would be nice to know the dates soon though so we can actually book a room in the hotel the show is being based at, whichever hotel that may be, Famingo, V, Wynn, Mandalay.
I just found some really good rates for Vegas hotels in January too, the deal is though you need to register as a CES attendee to get them and save upwards of $200 a night on published suite rates :awinky:

The rumors I had heard was Nawlins instead of Hollywood for the summer. Not Nawlins instead of Vegas for the winter. Either way, just rumors, so far.
But I seriously doubt AVN would ever abandon Vegas or not have the webmaster show run into the consumer pornstar show. I'm betting the winter show will still be at Mandalay.

But the LAST thing we want is to be there during CES. I'd rather spend $200 a night extra than deal with crowded restaurants, hour long taxi lines, etc. <_<

They can hold the show wherever they want, but my ass and my wallet will be in Vegas at some point in January.
I wouldn't mind a summer/spring/fall show in Nawlins, but the winter show belongs in Vegas. Period. Everyone looks forward to it, it's become part of their routine.
If AVN is stupid enough to abandon it, it'll be a race to see who'll step up to slip a smaller low frills show in the January time slot in Vegas....hopefully a week or so after CES instead of bumping right up against it.
god I hope that isn't true, new oreleans in the one city in the US I have no desire to visit again...as sick as I am of vegas, new orleans would be a horrible option
plus, I love the fact that internext and avn always backed up against each other...go to one to sell wholesale and meet your online client, go to the second and sell to your fans and surfers....plus you have the players ball, avn awards...it all just works out to nicely and together to move it now

New Orleans sucks to live, but it is great place to visit or have a conventions.
The problem is the 2 porn conventions in NO were poorly timed. ( probably because they people throwing them were being cheap).
The 2 key times NOT to have a convention in NO:
1) Summer
2) During large events that attract democrats. ( Soul Bowl, Essence Fest, etc...)

The Family knows the real story on this.
I seriously doubt that AVN would move the January show away from Vegas. That would make no real sense from the perspective of exhibitors doing both shows, and it would only hurt their business.

For 2006, Internext will be in Vegas again - Jan. 5-7 at the Venetian. AEE (the big AVN expo) is doing the usual thing in January and then a second show in New Orleans in May.

CES is 1/5-1/8. I'm going to start making dinner reservations now and finding someone with a party bus to drive me around the whole show :)

Lovely time frame for the show.. even Treasure Island will cost $270 per night for a room.
Mirage is $430.
Many of us on Oprano can afford these rates without a problem, but this really does screw most of the smaller webmasters who normally like to attend this show.
Mmm.. maybe I'll get a big ass suite again and just let a few webmistresses stay with me to cut down on their costs. :yowsa:

Yeah, this sucks. AVN is obviously catering to the big video players and themselves by effectively combining the two shows (yeah, i know different hall, but still...). Webmasters be damned. I also fear we may see a lot of surfers on the floor.
Cost isn't the major issue here for me. Hell, I've never exactly pinched pennies at a Vegas show. However, I do worry about how the cost and selection of these dates will impact the attendance. If these guys are whining about $300 for Florida, they're gonna scream like raped apes when they see what the accomodations in Vegas during CES cost.
Vegas also just positively sucks during CES. Cab lines for days, it's tough to even grab a limo. Every restaurant is packed and if you dont make reservations early for the popular joints, forget it. Dont even think about a buffet line. And if you wanna gamble, plan on $100 a hand at any of the major hotels at night.

wow, this kind of sucks ass, but i guess it is kind of cool...we just made a decision not to attend internext and stick mainly with AVN Expo, so it will be nice to be there at the same time as all the internet folks...plus we can bounce from show to show to show
sucks for those that are used to each show following the other though, now if you want to go to both porn shows, you will have to get 2 booths, 2 crews, 2 sets of models, etc....twice the cost
avn is going to see less money overall on this one, cause some people won't want to set up at both shows at the same time
