It's not a matter of if but when IMHO. People seem to think we are protected now because they are fighting over in Iraq primarily. They are getting better and better with their tactics and knowledge as has even been acknowledged by the military which has said their bomb making and other tactics are getting better and more intricate in their design and execution.

When you look at things realistically we (The USA) haven't done anywhere close to enough to protect ourselves. Our borders are still essentially not gaurded with any type of real security. Our ports are still as invulnerable as ever and the list goes on.... <_< . The Brits have their own types of problems as well.

Terrorism is still a very unlikely way to die in the western world.... the media/politician attention is what scares me the most, not some 1 out of 92.000.000 million chance to die in a terrorist attack (don´t take my word on that statistic ;-))

Its fascinating that our "enlightened" culture is scared about dying because of terrorism, when it doesn´t even make the top 10 causes of death.

I hope this phase of terrorism is short lived by all...and not dragged out like the

Israeli-Palestinian war. That shit has been going on for decades.

I think you'll see suicide bombers in shopping centers, nightlife/entertainemnt areas, etc., before you'll see a dirty bomb.

I also think the fear of terrorism is a little more complex than simply a fear of dying. The economic impact of 9/11 hit millions of people who would struggle to find New York City on a map, as an example.

Given where I live I have practically zero fear of an attack. That said I want to ensure other parts of the country that are more vulnerable don't get hit.

The ‘dirty nuke’ is the one thing that does worry me, but seeing as I’m hundreds of miles away from any major UK target, it would be the ramifications of such an attack that worry me.

As PD posted we’ll see human bombs walking into heavily packed out events long before that though.

Plus does it even take physics degree to build a nuke now that you can download and understand the plans with just a GCSE in physics?
