$5.99 a pound? The problem is that it's Foodlion meat. They were exposed a few years ago for using dirty meat and butcher practices. They'd have things other than "beef" in their ground beef.

Nothing like a little disease burger for dinner.

They were found to have bleached and repackaged old meat too.

We have a Food Lion here but I don't like it very much. I might check out the steak deal though - and sniff for Clorox :P

Onions, wine, cream and tarragon may mask the taste of the bleach, perhaps the lack of sales are affecting messieurs delicate palate ;)
